Hotel crafting with a toddler?

I'm leaving for 20 days in a hotel room with a three year old in tow. At home, we do a lot of crafting, and I'd like to bring something to work on in the evenings that is safe around her, bonus if she can join in.As the three year old loves to unravel my knitting and can only sort-of crochet, is there something else? Blogs featuring elegant + utilitarian crafts?

I'm very new to crafting and DIY, and am getting overwhelmed by the amount of material online about such things. I could really use some help identifying blogs or other resources/keywords to help refine my searching; so far I'm finding lots of stuff but not much that fits my criteria. [more inside]

Help me reupholster leather desk chair

I have a leather computer desk chair that I got 2 years ago that I really like and they don't sell it anymore, it is very ergonomic. I have tried out other chairs and not found one as good. The leather has torn in several places and I need to reupholster it. I don't want to take it somewhere to be reupholstered becasue a) I don't have the money and B) I would have nothing to sit on while it is in the shop. The thing is I don't know anything about reupholstering , let alone what looks somewhat complicated due to all the panels, in it. I have made a video showing in detail the chair, and the problems with it. I will be very grateful to anyone who can help with with this. This is the video.

Can I make my own glass earrings?

I work as an air conditioning mechanic, and with my head stuck in operating electrical machines all day I have a mind to switch to non-conductive earrings. I have 6ga or 4mm earrings. I used to have a pair of glass earrings but they eventually broke when I dropped them. Is there any reason I should not use glass stirring rods to make a new set of glass earrings? I am assuming I can use a torch or buns en burner to bend them and finish the ends.
