Is it safe to drive a car without an engine cover? I damaged the engine cover of my 08 Scion xB, so I removed it to install a new one from the factory. However, it is now apparent that I won't finish the job today, and I need to drive my car. [more inside]

I've seen a couple people recently with very nice fairly stiff leather journal covers, maybe a little smaller than 8 1/2 by 11, that hold a smaller replaceable floppy journal inside. I want one. I've looked around some, but all I can find are the cheap mass-produced ones. Does the hive mind have a lead on where to get a good-quality leather cover online or in the SF bay area?

This is going to be a bit of a longshot, but when I was in Japan a few months ago, I heard a cover of Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now"
sung presumably by a Japanese female, and I've been trying to find it ever since. [more inside]

Help me figure out what book this person is reading based on the cover, a mostly obscured title, and guesstimate of letters in the author's last name. [more inside]

I loathe the phrase "[I will] hit the ground running." What can I say in a cover letter that conveys that point without any of the cliche?

A while back, I came across a site that would generate artwork suitable for use in iTunes for those odd old singles you have on MP3. The artwork resembled an old 45 RPM record and I think could be customized with the track and artist name. Ring any bells? I can't find it in my bookmarks.

My newly formed band needs help--please help us find a good song to cover. We are three: one bass, one guitar, and one singer/guitar (female). We are all intermediate in skill (more or less). [more inside]

I heard a piece of Muzak while shopping in Staples; the verse was forgettable, but the chorus was the verse from Kraftwerk's Computer Love
(0:31 to 0:47 is the first full statement of it). It wasn't just similar; I know about soundalikes; it was note-for-note identical in melody and rhythm.
I heard two more verse/choruses. It didn't seem to be a cover; the lyrics were not about computers; and of course, the actual "verse" was completely different.
Searching and asking got no results, anyone know it? [more inside]

How much does the spine of a book cover affect sales? My partner has just had a book published, but the publishers put an earlier draft cover design on by mistake. The main difference is on the spine, where the title is slightly wrong and the text placement is different making the title unreadable by anyone browsing the shelves. [more inside]

I have a great mid-century dining set that I finally have the room to use (yay!). However, I don't like how the chairs were reupholstered in the '80s, but won't have the chance to (re-)reupholster them till next year. So I need seat covers -- NOT slipcovers! -- in the meantime. This has turned out to be surprisingly difficult. Help! [more inside]

How would you recommend repairing a heavy plastic (clear tarp like material with what appears to be fiberglass threads in it for strength) green house flexible cover. After about 10 years of use in the cold region of upper Michigan, my wife’s portable greenhouse (door and a few areas along the metal framing) are worn and starting to rip apart. I’ve tried the tried and true “duct tape” and clear plastic vinyl to patch the rips and it only lasted one year. I’d love to get another 5-7 years out of the greenhouse and wouldn’t mind spending up to $100.00 to repair it. Any ideas or suggestions would be certainly appreciated. Thanks in advance….

I was at a restaurant recently and they were playing a foreign language cover of Bush's "Machinehead." The cover version was much slower but the melody was recognizable and every once in awhile the singer would say "machinehead" in english. Does anybody have any idea who this is by?
