Is there anywhere in/near Nashville, TN that I can buy a Kindle case similar to the M-Edge GO? I just got a Kindle for Christmas (yay!) and I want to pick up a case for it. I'll order it online if I have to, but I've got some extra cash and if there's somewhere I can buy one in store I'd love to do that.

I really like the M-Edge GO! case, but anything similar will do.

Secondarily, once I have the case, what would be the best way to modify it so it says "DON'T PANIC" in large, friendly letters? I've seen leather stamps mentioned, as well as custom embossing. The M-Edge says it is "genuine leather." I have no experience with this kind of thing.

Belle and Sebastian Cover

I heard of cover of Belle and Sebastian's "Get Me Away from Here I'm Dying," and I cannot figure out who was performing it. The guy who was playing it didn't know; he said it got it off some movie soundtrack or something, so I don't think it was a particularly rare or difficult-to-find cover. The singer's voice sounded a bit like Morrissey. It definitely was not Stuart Murdoch. Is anyone familiar with it? It's killing me.

I really enjoy Brings' cover of Zarah Leander's "Nur nicht aus Liebe Weinen". Who else does this type of cover?

Who else does this type of cover? I enjoy Brings' classic rock (I think?) style (some of their earlier stuff is pretty screechy for me, but it seems in later years they've mellowed a bit), and am curious to hear other bands of the same type. (I also like their "janz höösch" semi-acoustic concert, but can't seem to find much beyond youtube clips)

As long as it isn't English, then language doesn't matter too much-- I speak German and enjoy knowing what I'm singing along to, but french, greek, flemish, etc, I'll listen to most anything. I've searched for Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel covers, etc, but haven't had much luck-- everything I find is in the same

What Mexican rock/rap song did I hear?

What Mexican song did I hear that heavily sampled (or covered) an English language rock band like April Wine or Foghat (or similar). The Spanish lyrics sort of rapping over a bed of the classic rock sound. And I'm almost positive it wasn't Molotov. It is driving me nuts. I was at a club the other night down Mexico way and heard this awesome song that had some 70s/80s power rock samples/riffs with a Spanish language singing/rapping over it. I had the Shazam App grab it but because I was roaming and AT&T would charge me a fortune I didn't find out until I was back in the US that it didn't know what it was. Unfortunately if Shazam doesn't know a song it doesn't keep it around.

So now I just have this feeling I really want to hear the song because I seemed to like it so much. I immediately thought it might have been Molotov -- like something I might have missed on their cover album Con Todo Respeto -- but it wasn't. But sort of like the ZZ Top riffs on "Perro Negro Granjero". But it did sort of have a Molotov kind of feel to it. That plus having the cool riffs from the classic rock song made it really sound awesome. Or perhaps it could have been the tequila. If only I could remember the power rock song they had sampled this would have been a cakewalk to figure out. I know it wasn't "Slow Ride" or "I like to rock" but it was in that same type of song.

Of course just because I was in Mexico when I heard it doesn't mean it was done by a Mexican act. But the lyrics were in Spanish.

Is there a specific word for those rolling, pull-down gates that cover up storefronts in old-school cities (Brooklyn, Barcelona) at night? Here's a picture of the kind of gates I mean. Grates? Doors? I feel like there has to be a more specific word. Spanish or English would be fine. Thanks!

Please help me find an mp3 (mp4?) of Badly Drawn Boy's cover of Thunder Road. There is a youtube video but I'd like to get a copy of it as an mp3 if possible. Amazon and itunes don't have it, I'd like to actually purchase it rather than just find it wherever it if it's available, as mp3 or cd (preferable but it's not on any of BDB's albums as far as I know) or whatever.

security for wheel covers?

Wheel covers keep getting stolen. Any way to secure them? My girlfriend drives a 2008 Corolla that keeps losing wheel covers. The first one disappeared while she was on vacation last week (car was not in use). The second went missing last night. Replacing them is not a problem, but I don't want to keep buying them without addressing the root of the problem.

Is there any way to lock these things on? She has the 15" 6-spoke wheel covers pictured here . The wheel covers are snap-on and are not secured by the wheel's lug nuts. I realize that even a lug nut is removable, but something that secured the covers to them would at least be a deterrent. Does anyone know of such a solution? Thanks!

PS she has security nuts on but they only protect the wheel from removal, not the covers :(

Looking for a cover of "Thank God I'm A Country Boy," in Hebrew. In the early nineties, while working on a farm in Israel, I used to listen to an offshore pirate radio station on my Walkman. One day I heard a rendition of the John Denver song -- complete with a-hollerin' and a-stampin' -- in Hebrew. My various desultory efforts over the years to locate the artist responsible and to track down a copy of the song have come to naught, but surely if anyone knows who sang this, the AskMe hivemind will.

Best place to find protective book covers

I ordered several used books online recently, and a few came with protective mylar (?) covers. I thought, "Neat!". And am considering doing that to a few other books I have. But here's where the questions start... Where to order stuff? What, exactly, do I order? How to put it together? Some are self-stick, others require tape. Which is best? I've been to a few book supply sites, and have just gotten more confused.

I will probably want to start small (say, do 5-6 books), then consider going bigger (maybe do another 100 or so books).

Know any good music covers I should hear?

I love the Dope metal cover of You Spin Me Right Round, and the Reel Big Fish ska cover of Take On Me. What other awesome covers are out there I should be looking for? I was in the shopping mall when I heard a neat slow cover of Jimmy Eat World's A Praise Chorus (and if you have any guesses as to who that cover might be by, that'd be awesome, though this question is more general than that) and it got me thinking about what other neat covers might be out there. In some cases the covers surpass the original, or are very interesting just due to the genre switch and it's those I'm most looking for.

Covers I already know of, to give you an idea of what I'm looking for:

Dope - You Spin Me Round (Dead or Alive)
Reel Big Fish - Take On Me (A-ha)
MXPX - Barbie Girl (Aqua)
Bettie Serveert - Lover I Don't Have to Love (Bright Eyes)

Something Corporate - Unravel (also Bjork)

There are also some that are more remakes that I like, such as the Mindless Self Indulgence version of Tom Sawyer, so I'd be all for suggestions along those lines too.

So, anyone have any suggestions? Like I said, I love covers that really shake up the sound or the genre, and I'm a sucker for remakes of 80s hits, so if you know of any good ones out there please let me know!

Do any cars come with a clear license plate cover or shield?

Does ANY car come from the manufacturer with a clear license plate cover or license plate shield? I see many cars with clear covers on the license plate here in California. I read up on the relevant vehicle code (VC §5201) and I think there may be a distinction between "cover" (like a car cover or a cover that goes around the boarders of the license plate) and a shield (like a clear protector - just cannot interfere with cameras, visibility, etc).

It would be very helpful to know if any auto makers sell or sold cars with a clear shield as an OEM part. Can you think of any?

GroundCoverFilter: What's the best ground cover for around my newly landscaped front yard? I just recently re-landscaped the slope in front of my house and was leaning towards mulch to fill in around the plants, but now (after scaling the slope several times already to weed and deadhead) I don't think mulch would be the best idea.

I was thinking maybe a ground cover would make more sense. Something spreads fairly fast and that would survive under the plants once they have established themselves. Also something that could take an occasional trampling since I will need to walk on it occasionally. No vine-like ground covers please...the hill was previously covered in Ivy and it took forever to remove it.

What would you recommend?

(Additional Info: The area is about 20 x 20 and contains a variety of perennial flowers and shrubs. The house faces West, so the front gets strong afternoon/evening sun.)

Where can I find a laptop skin for my Inspiron 1318 for less than $20? I want something to stick on my 13.3 inch laptop to give it an extra level of protection and style. I've seen lots of websites, and some incredible designs, I love this one and this one but unfortunately they're like $30. Additionally, they don't seem to specify that they're compatible with my Dell Inspiron 1318.

Has anybody seen any other good laptop skin websites out there that won't break the bank? Bonus points for sites that explicitly state exact size proportions, or specific model compatibility.

Need new couch cushion covers.

Where can I find replacement cushion covers for my couch. We have a great couch, but the covers for the two seat cushions are ripped to hell, with the foam inside now totally exposed. The foam itself is totally fine, so I'd rather not replace the entire cushion, just the cloth cover that goes around the outside of each peace of foam. Color is not an issue, since we have a slipcover that goes over the entire couch. I just need 2 simple, sturdy, 33x24x7 cushion covers to cram the foam into. Try as I might, I can't find anything like this on Google. All the links I'm getting are either for slipcovers that go over the entire couch or for covers for throw pillows. Help!

Is it safe to drive without an engine cover?

Is it safe to drive a car without an engine cover? I damaged the engine cover of my 08 Scion xB, so I removed it to install a new one from the factory. However, it is now apparent that I won't finish the job today, and I need to drive my car. When I say engine cover, I mean the piece of black plastic that attaches to the bottom of the car to keep rocks and other road debris out of the engine compartment.

The reason I won't finish the job today is due to the fact that, upon removing the damaged pieces, I discovered that there are two separate pieces instead of one, and the second piece won't arrive until morning. It's also raining here now, so it makes getting even the larger piece on even harder.

So if I stay off the dirt roads, am I risking harm to my car if I drive it for a day without these parts installed?

Laptop rain jacket?

Laptop rain cover/bag... does such a thing exist? I'm going to be covering (live streaming in this case) some events outside, one or more of which could take place in light rain or during passing showers. I have a cover for the camera and can bring a small TV tray to elevate the laptop but I'm not sure how to waterproof it.

The only option I've come up with are the XXL Ziploc bags (2ft x 2.7ft) but would condensation be an issue? Would it impede my aircard signal?

Googling only turned up rainproof bags for transport, I'll need to at least be able to use the trackpad, ideally the keyboard as well. I'll be using a 15" MacBook Pro fwiw.

Help me cover or clean a grimy windowsill

Urban dwellers: how do you deal with windowsill grime? I'm not much of a housekeeper, but the window thing is getting to me. I live on a lower floor in NYC and the grime that builds up on my kitchen windowsill is really vile. The sill itself is very old, pockmarked painted wood and very hard to clean, but I rent so can't really change it. I wondered if anyone has any tips about covering the sill - maybe with contact paper or some kind of foil? (How would I deal with the pockmarks?) Or maybe top it with a wooden board? (But then how to secure the board?)

I'm surprised Google hasn't been much help here. I would have thought this was a common problem. It wasn't so bad when I lived higher in the sky, but this close to the street means there's a new film of grime every day and wiping with windex seems to just smear the dirt around.

I've seen a couple people recently with very nice fairly stiff leather journal covers, maybe a little smaller than 8 1/2 by 11, that hold a smaller replaceable floppy journal inside. I want one. I've looked around some, but all I can find are the cheap mass-produced ones. Does the hive mind have a lead on where to get a good-quality leather cover online or in the SF bay area?

This is going to be a bit of a longshot, but when I was in Japan a few months ago, I heard a cover of Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" sung presumably by a Japanese female, and I've been trying to find it ever since. I heard it while I was in one of the gift shops/convenience stores at the Tokyo/Narita Airport, and I was there at the end of November, if any of those details help.

I have tried google searches to no avail. I was wondering if anyone out there knows of this cover, or, barring that, if one of the Japanese-speaking mefites could possibly do a search for this online in Japanese? Thanks a lot / Arigato Gozaimasu !
