Hidden among various other breathtakingly evil clauses, part 13 of the Comcast Agreement for Residential Services says that if the customer doesn't opt out within 30 days of receiving the dense legalese, he gives up the right to sue Comcast in a public court. But (in clause 15g), Comcast maintains the right to sue the user any time they like.

How do I dress for court? I'll be a factual witness against the defendent, and may or may not be asked to answer questions, dependent on how everything goes - if I testify, my input is extremely important to the case. It's important that I appear (in both manner & dress) as respectful, calm, matter-of-fact (casually confident), honest, ladylike, etc. I am all those things, but... [more inside]

My understanding is that to sue in NYC Small Claims Court, the defendant must live, work, or conduct business within NYC.
If the defendant does not live, work, or conduct business within NYC--though the claimant does--what's the proper court for a Small Claims Court type of lawsuit?
And this might solve it, too: If the defendant bought something from a store in NYC, is that conducting business?

I caused a very small car accident last month (no damage to the other car). I was required to report in court. Rather than just paying a fine, because I'm under 21 they are requiring me to go through this program called Teens Learning Control. It consists of lots of 4 hour seminars, 1 test, and 8 hours of community service. I'm 19, a full time college student, and also working full-time as a web designer in a design firm. I have no time to do any of this and the whole situations is ridiculous. I'm not asking to completely get off scott free. Why can't I just pay a fine. What are my options? Any Advice? I have to report back to court on march 30th with the program completed.
