I'm already certified as an EMT outside of the US, but now that I'm going to school in America I'd like to get certified there as well. However, I don't have a lot of time over the summer for the course. Does anyone know of any really intensive, really concentrated EMT basic course? Like all day, every day for a couple weeks. Does this exist in the US?

I'm not a very good writer, but I would like to change that. Can anyone recommend a writing course in NYC? A course in fiction or non-fiction creative writing or a general composition course would fit the bill. I'm definitely a beginner. Thanks!

There's apparently a golf course near San Jose, CA., well it actually may be closer to Milpitas, but it supposedly has half a million trees. I can't seem to find anything about it or if it even exists. This information is coming from my father who played at this course many years ago (maybe 10-20). [more inside]

Are you generally able to apply courses taken for a M.S. at one school for credit in another school's PhD program if you're doing a B.S. -> M.S. -> PhD? For more specifics, we're talking Computer Science, and more specifically, to apply for Stanford's PhD program (or another reputable US university). [more inside]

I teach a college course that requires my students to turn in video projects. Each project is, at the most, 500 MB. In the past, we've had the students burn their projects onto CDs and/or DVDs. We'd love, however, to come up with a way for them to submit them electronically. How could we pull this off? Would Google Video work? Would Streamload be reliable? YouTube? (FYI: there are 75 students and each of them turn in 7 projects through out the semester). Our budget is modest ($50/month at the most).

I am preparing a course on Computer Aided Environmental Design for architects and other professionals, and am planning to make extensive use of Ecotect, a package which allows one model and study the solar, light, thermal and acoustic behavior of a building. To round it out, I would like to be able to study ventilation and airflow as well. Is there any easy-to-use (for an architect, not an engineer) software in the vein of Ecotect which will allow basic modeling of ventilation or airflow on a standard PC?
