I would like to take a college course on logic. I am not currently enrolled in any college. And, I have missed registration for the fall semester for most community colleges and adult ed centers. I bought a book on logic but I am having trouble learning from it. Would prefer to use a book in conjunction with lectures. How should I proceed? Typically this type of course is offered in the philosophy department. My main interest is in dissecting arguments to find logical structures. I am open to taking an online course or even listening to a set of lectures on logic, especially if a workbook is required. thank you.

I am looking for recommendations about adult acting classes/courses in London to take later this year. I am interested in longer and more demanding courses (1 year or more), which I could accommodate with my day job. I know there are many options available (e.g. Foundation course at CityLit). I am asking here in order to explore all possible options and hear about your recommendations and experience. Thank you very much for any feedback! [more inside]

I will soon be starting a project/new job that requires better Microsoft Office skills than I currently have. I've used Outlook, Word and Excel in a fairly basic way for years, but need to come to grips with some of the more sophisticated elements of those programs. Plus, I need to learn how to use Powerpoint and Visio, which I've never touched. Yikes. Can you recommend some good online tutorials? I am also considering doing a paid course (online or otherwise) if I can find one based in London that's not too expensive or a rip-off. Can you help?
I am looking for online classes about adult education course planning. I have been training groups in fundraising for a while and want to get more professional about it. Bonus if the courses are interactive.
I'm looking for NYC poetry class recommendations! Gotham Writer's Workshop and 92Y are both offering courses that start soon. So I'm thinking it's a bad idea to include a chapter by Jonah Lehrer in my college's first-year experience course, given that it would be placed right after our discussion on academic dishonesty. Can you help me think of a replacement? [more inside]
My community college requires a basic, high school level Physics course as a prerequisite to any other course in the subject. While I took such classes in high school, I have no proof of this on my transcript. My only option at this point is to appeal to the head of the department of Science and Mathematics. While I do plan on making as compelling of a case as possible, I've been told that they want to see some kind of proof that a student would succeed in such a class before granting the petition. Does anyone have any idea what kind of things they might be looking for? What might I be able to do to prove that I know the material and would be able to handle the coursework?

Math-terminology mismatch? I'm searching for trigonometry in Philadelphia. College-level trigonometry needed for a graduate of an art-oriented high school. Now he's a freshman engineering student, and needs trig over the summer. But I can't seem to find a University or even Community College in Philly with trig on its course list. How is this possible? Has trig undergone a name change since I took it in high school? Or does my son really need to return to (a different) high school in order to learn it?
