Seeking short term solutions to second hand smoke from 24hr chain smoker

My new neighbors are chain smokers who smoke right outside my bedroom windows. The weather in our neighborhood has been especially nice lately, so they're out on their patio more often to smoke multiple cigarettes over an hour. The second hand smoke is really affecting me now. I have a super important interview on Tuesday. What can I do to reduce the earache, cough, and dry eyes caused by the smoke? [more inside]

Ideas for success with a long term aggressive cough?

You are not my doctor. I have a doctor who I will see for the third time later today. This has been going on for four weeks now without much visible improvement. I really need it to improve because right now I can't run or hike and I have a bike trip coming up at Christmas and a half marathon in January. I already missed a race last weekend. Any ideas for what worked for a similar stubborn cough? [more inside]

Help a hacking amateur singer out?

I'm singing in the chorus of Handel's Messiah tomorrow at Carnegie Hall, and as luck would have it, I seem to have caught a whale of a cold, which by now has more or less calmed down to just a pretty bad cough. I'd rather not collapse in the middle of the Hallelujah Chorus (or any other choruses, come to think of it). Any advice for dealing with a pretty bad cough in the short term when you can't just take to your bed? [more inside]

The flu is gone, but my lungs still aren't working... doctor again?

YANMD... I had the flu about 3 weeks ago. I'm feeling much better now except I'm still coughing and wheezing. I have asthma, my inhaler works... But I'm using it more than I ever have. How long should I wait until I go back to the doctors? [more inside]

Automatic Forced Exhalation/Bronchial spasm?

I've noticed the past couple days a sort of automatic forced exhalation. I don't know how to describe it. It's kind of like a cough, but not really. There's not throat clearing or anything of that nature. [more inside]

Should I worry about these symptoms?

You Are Not A Doctor: Three weeks ago, I got a nasty head cold that never quite went away. It's now settled into my chest, and I have a chronic, slightly productive cough. Ordinarily, I would just wait it out, but I'm exhausted, can't really get a full breath, and the stuff I'm coughing up tastes like bleach. I swear, I haven't been inhaling or gargling bleach. I do have an appointment to see my doctor on Wednesday (the earliest I could get in,) but I was wondering if anyone else had had these symptoms and could tell me what caused them, so I can quit Googling medical conditions and diagnosing myself with lung abscesses and tuberculosis.
