What would the 6 year old version of yourself put in your utility belt?

I want to make my son a kick-ass utility belt for Christmas. Please suggest me some awesome things to fill it with! I was in the basement working on a computer at my bench, when I noticed a old gameboy game case that looks almost exactly like a pouch on a super heroes utility belt. I think I also have several more similar cases laying around. So the idea struck me, that I would like to make my son a utility belt filled with awesome gadgets for his dress up and playing. My son is a costume / superhero fanatic, so this will be right up his alley. I'll probably pick up a tool belt for the belt portion, and then mod the pouches to fit it.

So, please suggest some cool things I can put in it.
- yes, I already read the wikipedia article on batman's utility belt.
- I would like to keep the entire project under 100 dollars.
- He is 6 years old.
- Functional and cool would be best, but non-functional imagination inspiring stuff would rock too! Just generally things he can have lots of adventures with!

Otherwise, I am really up for just about any ideas!

Designing costumes on the Computer

Any recommendations for clothing design software? I'm always scared to download software because I'm afraid it will a virus or something bad. I'm a totally novice when it comes to clothing design, but I do sew. I'm looking for software mostly to help me design garments for cosplay.

I am currently using a old desktop with XP on it. I also have access to a macbook.

Identify this cosplayer's outfit! Possibly a Marvel character? I went to Otakon with a couple friends this weekend and they spotted this young woman, and they are wondering what character she is playing. They suspect it is a Marvel character of some kind, but other than that, we have no leads. Thanks, Hivemind.

Armor costume sans metal

Posting for a friend: creating metal like armor for a costume, without the whole metal part. I am trying to make a costume of this character for Anime Expo 2008. The entire costume is in steady progress except for the shoulders, which I have no idea how to build, attach, or wear properly. I am willing to work with any material except metal. The armor is made of a combination of paper-mache and craft foam. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Help me think of Reenactment Photos for Cosplay

Creative Ideas Filter: I need ideas of Famous and Memorable Photographs or Paintingsor famous and memorable scenes from History, Movies, or Television that can be Reenacted on the spot without planning by 3-6 people for me to photograph for a final project for school. So I have this final project for school and I realized that I could use my trip to the NY Comic-Con for "fun and profit." We had previously done reenactment photography in my digital photography class and I had a lot of fun, and I just thought, I could get some hilarious shots of people already cosplaying but also reenacting great scenes for me.

Imagine it, all the Naruto cosplayers reenacting the Mexican stand off scene from reservoir dogs. Or a reenactment of Jesus' Last Supper with people dressed up as DC heroes.

Where can I buy T-shirts like the members from the old 70's cartoon "Battle of the Planets"? I'm trying to find a specific Ringer Style T-Shirt and I 've tried the usual online outlets with no results. The kind of shirt I'm looking for has the chest part blue the ringer around the neck is red. The left and right sleeves are red but the ringer fabric is blue on the sleeves. I'm trying to piece together my Halloween costume this year. If anyone has any ideas for a solution I'd greatly appreciate it.

Is there a term for cross-over cosplay outfits?

I went to Comic Con this year, and as usual, there were tons of people in costume. The most original however, are the ones that do some sort of cross-over/mash-up/call it what you will, like Stormtrooper Elvis. So here's my question... is there a particular term for this kind of costume/cos-play?

Am I wrong for being angry at my friend? I bought four tickets for tonights midnight showing of Harry Potter. One for me and a date, one for my litte sister, and one for my friend Katie.

Katie is 22 years old and very nerdy, as in Klingon speaking nerdy. That's cool, I'm kind of a nerd sometimes too. I thought I would be going with my long term boyfriend, but we ended up breaking up after I bought the tickets.

I bit the bullet and asked a cute guy in my apartment complex to go in place of my boyfriend. He is *definitely not* nerdy in any way, shape or form.

Since this is our first date, I want to do everything I can to make a good impression on him. Letting him know that some of my friends are 20-somethings that dress up as fictional wizards is not my idea of a good first date impression. Katie was planning on wearing a full slytherin costume, complete with cape and magic wand.

I asked Katie as gently and as nicely as possible if she would mind wearing regular clothes to the movie tonight (my date will be driving us all there and back). I even told her that I would buy us both tickets to go see the movie again on Saturday morning and we could do the costume thing together.

Katie flat out refused. "It's tradition!" she protested. I tried to gently hint that it was really important to me. She wouldn't yield.

I'm more than a little miffed. Considering I bought the ticket for her after she couldn't find midnight tickets on her own and am indirectly providing her transportation there and back, I feel like she could have compromised on this little bit.

So what is it- am I a shallow bitch or is Katie being unreasonable?
