The majority of my friends are in medical school and are graduating this year. I'm a baker and wanted to give them all small gifts that are cute/tasty/medical or graduation-related. The only thing I could think of is decorated cookies (I do shortbread or brownie cookies) but any suggestions on shapes? Nothing too complicated, please!

My dad is around 70 years old and has subsisted on a steady diet of shortbread cookies (those ones in the yellow box from the convenience store) and vanilla Ensure drinks for the past 2-3 years. How can we help him to help himself and eat real, nourishing food?

I love to bake cookies for the holidays. I'd like to do most of my baking the second weekend of December (8 & 9), but that's earlier than I've done my baking in the past. Do you have recipes for cookies that freeze well? Preferably after baking?

Just upgraded to IE9. On IE 8 I had the option displayed on the screen to enable or block cookies. (I value my privacy) That option apparently doesn't exist in IE9. Do I have to accept cookies from every site, or is there a way to selectively alow them on some sites and block on others?

So... Facebook
TM sent an email to my email address from someone who I don't know but lives in my general geographical area requesting my friendship. Problem: this email address is definitely not associated with a Facebook
TM account. However, there are probably cookies from FB on this computer. Also, this potential "friend" appears to run some sort of digital media consultancy (blech). Question: how did Facebook scrape this email address exactly and why did I get this email? Did this guy pay Facebook to send a friend request to an email address they scraped or is it something more automatic?

I want to make cookies in the shape of a cat's paw. I'm attending a cookie exchange party and many people have seen photos of my cat
Butters famous for his big feet. I'm hoping to find a cookie recipe that would be around the color of his feet (a buff tan color) which can be shaped into a paw shape. So it would have to be something with dough I can shape by hand. I will use almond slivers for claws. If you have a simple recipe like this it would be great. Thanks! I have most normal cookie making stuff or could buy it.

Each year we bake up a number of Christmas cookies to give to family, friends, service professionals we are grateful for, etc. Each year the list expands. This year we have vowed to get organized, make dough in advance, improve our packaging and presentation so that recipients don't get a box of crumbs, etc. What are your best practices?

Jaffa Cakes. The local Aldi has something that purports to be jaffa cakes under the "Cafe Bistro" brand for $1.99. Is this an acceptable substitute for the the real McVities Jaffa Cakes, or should I just find someplace to order them on the Intarwebs?

1) All of my chocolate cookie recipes yield cookies that are gooey and soft and wonderful just out of the oven, but not as wonderful once they (inevitably) cool and become crusty and hard. What's the key to keeping cookies soft and moist? 2) A recipe calls for self-raising flour but all I have is all-purpose flour. Is there a way to turn the latter into the former, or do I need to make a run to the store?
