I am looking for a reliable and cost-effective manner to convert a single VHS tape to DVD. I don't have a camcorder or any other equipment to do the job and local shops have quoted me prices in the $100 range. I found several online set-ups that advertise in the $20 range, but I am looking for recommendations before I send the VHS tape off.
I'd like to convert some Winamp files to DVD files, so they can be played on a normal DVD player. Anyone know if this can be done and how?
I have to work with a number of audio interviews saved as .DVF format using a Sony digital audio recorder. Are there any tools to convert these into a more civilized format so I can burn them as .AIFF files? [more inside]
I'm looking for a program (freeware or shareware) that will convert an MP3 to MIDI for OS X?
I have an older travel trailer that I am turning into a guest house. The trailer runs on 110/120 volts and the main powercord has an oversized end plug with angled blades and cylindrical grounding plug. Kind of like the powerplug on an oven. How do I go about converting this to work with the existing 220/240 breaker? Is it complicated / unwise to do this myself? My electrical experience is limited to installing new light fixtures and electrical outlets.
Please offer your recommendations on the best cheap/free .WMF/.EMF to .EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) conversion utility. Win98 or XP. Application: getting t-shirts silkscreened. Thanks.
Does anyone know of a self contained device that can convert cassette tapes to mp3 or burn them to a CD? If not, what is the best software and setup to use with computer? I've got a zillion cassette tapes. Help!

What (free) Windows program will convert a CMYK TIFF to a lossless CMYK JPEG2000, assuming JPEG2000 can cope with CMYK? If possible, I'd like to avoid having to know how JPEG2000 works just to be able choose the right settings.
XMB -> phpBB. A forum I'm on is trying to convert, but the available converter scripts aren't up to date. Anybody do this? Anybody know anyone who has? [more inside]
Is there a (free and easy) way to convert Word Perfect files into Word documents on my Mac? [MI]
Audio editing on OSX: I have a 30 minute long .aiff file that I'd like to break into separate tracks and convert to mp3. I know that iTunes can handle the .aiff -> .mp3 conversion. Is there software that can do the 1 .aiff -> 6 .aiffs part? Or one that can do 1 .mp3 -> 6 .mp3s if I do the conversion first?
When converting an MP3 to WAV (for playback on a CD player that can't handle MP3s) What's the best method? Playback MP3 and record to WAV with a program like Total Recorder? Convert formats directly with something like Audacity or CDex? Doesn't matter? [more inside]
I have a bunch of iMovie 3 projects which I'd like to export as QuickTime movies and then convert to MPEG2 with TMPGEnc Express on Winders. I wish that TMPGEnc could just import a DV stream, but it won't, so my question becomes: what's the most lossless QuickTime format I can save as? Size-to-quality isn't the issue. I have lots of space, I just want to lose very little in the QuickTime export. Which format do I export in, and with which settings? wish I had a Superdrive...
I've been buying my wife tracks from iTunes and putting them on her Archos Jukebox. Since the Archos doesn't accept the aac format, I have to burn them from Archos onto CDs and then rip the CDs back into my PC and then download the ripped files onto her Jukebox. (I don't feel like I'm cheating Apple out of revenue, because only my wife listens to this music.) [More Inside.] [more inside]
I have some mpeg4 (quicktime) video that I would like to convert to mpeg2 so I can watch it on my el cheapo Apex player. I am using OS X (Panther). Are there any free or cheap tools that will do this that won't make my head explode? I supplicated the Google gods and came up empty.

Why is it so damn complicated to convert between video formats? This afternoon I went on vcdhelp.com to find out how to convert AVI to SVCD and the simplest tutorial involved six different tools and unbelievably many settings. How come nobody has written something to do it in one step? Can it really not be automated?
Anyone know an easy way to convert Shorten files to mp3 - preferably high-bit-rate VBR?
This can't be that hard. I have thousands of digital images taken with high resolution cameras. I'd like to e-mail about 100 of them to various folks so I'm trying to convert them to an e-mail friendly size/resolution that doesn't assume everyone has high speed connections. I'd like to do this in some sort of batch mode - select a bunch of images and do this all at once. I've tried Graphic Converter and iView Media Pro - neither of which can do the trick. Oh they make an effort all right, but they don't really work. I'm still running on Mac OS 9 so I'm looking for something that works there or - can iPhoto do this and will it be the thing that finally forces that new purchase on me?
I want to purchase a t-shirt from an American site. Are the sizes - which are, in this case, small, medium, large, and so on - the same as they are in NZ (or the UK)? [more inside]
A client sent me his company's logos in .PSP (Paint Shop Pro) format, however I am on a Mac and would like to edit them in Photoshop. I need a program that will convert .PSP to .PSD, while maintaining the original layers in the .PSP file. I don't want to have to manually remove all of the white space surrounding the logo, so keeping the layers intact is very important. Does anyone have any suggestions? [more inside]
Anyone know a good (free) utility to convert some ogg files to MP3 so I can play them on the iPod?
I have some old video tapes that I'd love to convert to digital video, storing the data on DVDs and/or my g5. Is there a good way to do this? Is it possible to transfer commercial video tapes in addition to personal tapes? I'm a video novice, but catch on quickly.
Video amongst both a PC and Mac: I would like to edit home (i?)movies in iMovie on my iBook. The original movies are on VHS tapes. I have a TV tuner card on my PC which I have used to record things from a VCR, which it saves as MPEG files. If I go this route, how do I convert them into something that iMovie can use? Is there a better route to go altogether? [more inside]
Due to stupidity, I have more than two years' worth of work written in AppleWorks and saved as .cwk files. The application is no longer bundled with OS X, and I'm not paying for it, so what's the best and quickest way to convert the files to plain text? [more inside]
How can I convert files from Magnavox Videowriter word processor format (from my 1980s floppies) into readable format today?
I used a Magnavox Videowriter word processor back in the 1980s and filled up 20+ 400k floppies with writing that I cannot access through any other means but the Videowriter. How do I convert those old floppies to plain text so I can access my (probably horrible) early writings? [more inside]
