How much should an editor of an online publication be paid?

If I want to hire an editor to manage the blog for my ad-driven website, how much should the pay be if it's full-time? What about part-time? Other than creating and managing content, managing writers (and bringing on new ones), and promoting the blog and the site on social media, is there anything else I should list in a online editor's duties? Does my termination violate the notification clause of my contract?

I am currently working in the NY area for an employer that hired me a few months ago as an independent contractor. This employer just notified me that my position has been terminated (without cause) due to budgetary reasons, with termination effective in one week. According to my contract, either party is supposed to give 30 days notice prior to termination or resignation. There is no indication within the contract regarding payment in lieu of notice. Do I have any recourse or reasonable expectation of some form of compensation considering that I have been given only one week's notice? [more inside]

My wife starts a new contracting job next week. I am looking for a good calculator to formulate how much should be set aside for taxes. I've Googled with no good solution. Is there a formula you use? If you are an independent contractor do you have any tips?

Online form for programming contractor's contract?

IndependentContractorFilter: So I've landed a gig doing some contract programming, except we don't actually have a signed contract yet. Before I sink any more time (existing time being this afternoon) into it, and before I deliver anything, I want one, obviously. Does anyone know of any example programming contracts online I can crib from? All the obvious search words are so over-represented on the Web that my Google results are uselessly noisy.
