How much is Katy Perry worth? Is there any realistic way to calculate how much she got paid for what she produced? (Not the exact amount, but presumably we ought to be able to get the order of magnitude right.)

Several years ago I remember reading a very well-regarded article about the financial realities of the life of a band when it gets signed by a music label. I think it was from Rolling Stone, but I couldn't swear by that fact. I recall that it laid out in detail about how the advances work, how exciting it is for the band at first, and then how the entire industry is built to completely financially destroy them. Does this ring a bell with anyone? My nephew is going to become a world-famous millionaire rock star, and I want to give him something to think about while he is working for that big break....

We're in escrow on a house in southern CA, and were recently the unhappy recipients of a
Notice to Buyer to Perform (or more accurately our realtor was, by email.) We got the contingencies lifted but did not quite do so within the 48 hour period dictated by the form, and now the seller wants out. Can they now back out legally?

I have just bought a home and want to remodel both bathrooms and paint interior before I move in. I got two bids and both were about the same. The companies both have good reviews on Angie's list and are the same size, so this makes me feel ok about the price estimated. That said, the price quoted is still a bit more than what I expected so I am wondering what suggestions people have for managing and bringing down costs.

A real estate agent waited until the night before showing us some properties to send us two contracts to sign. One states that he's not a buyer's agent, he's a "non-agent facilitator". The other would, if we sign, grant him the "exclusive right to locate or procure real property" for us until the end of the year.
Question A: is he trying to screw us? Or is this sort of thing normal, or at least reasonable?
Question B: assuming this is reasonable, what's the practical difference between a facilitator and a buyer's agent?

I'm looking for a Latin legal maxim which says something like 'if a contract is silent on a point, it should be assumed that it is silent on purpose, and you should not read terms into the contract'. It is not "sub silentio", and in fact is almost the opposite of it. Can you refresh my memory?

Mexican Architecture Contracts
As American Architect looking to do work in Mexico, I would like to be more familiar with standard contracts used.
(Maybe the equilalent to AIA?)
Can anyone share experience w/ either 1. A translated standard contract 2. A split/associated contract between a US Architect and a Mexican Architect?
I realize that there is no one-fits-all form, but anything related will be helpful.
Obviously personal information should be deleted.
And anyone w/ personal experience who might have a story to share is welcome to add in.
