In short: how do I sync all my contacts between Mac OS X Address Book, iOS, iCloud.com, and Gmail.com? Not as short: In olden days, I used the Address Book app on my Mac to store all my contacts. Everything in there would sync to MobileMe (and by extension, iPhone, iPad and me.com) and Google (for Gmail). After iCloud was released in October, turning on contact syncing between Address Book and iCloud resulted in a message that said if iCloud contact syncing is turned on Google syncing must be turned off. Googling tells me that lots of people are having this problem, but I'm not finding a solution within all the noise. What am I missing? Any settings to change? Any software? Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for a place online where I can get a bunch of non-prescription soft contact lenses that I could use to practice putting stuff into my eye.
I'm looking for a place online where I can get a bunch of non-prescription soft contact lenses that I could use to practice putting stuff into my eye. I went for my first contact lens fitting about a year ago, and it took me a good 30 minutes of trying to get them in. At the end of this torture my eyes were red and teary and I had to keep blowing my nose. Things got busy and I never ended going back after the 3rd fitting (I have a crazy astigmatism that requires toric lenses and is apparently hard to fit). I also never got the hang of putting the lenses in without sitting in front of a mirror for a long, long time. Before going back, I'd like to get the hang of it. That's where you come in. Since I don't have a prescription, I'd like to use lenses that don't correct vision. Maybe color lenses -- would that work? I'd imagine they're all pretty similar, or no? Are color contacts soft? Is there maybe a site that gives away samples lenses with no prescription somewhere?

I have had a rash of contacts in the last few days asking about a specific job at my company. I sort of know the hiring manager, but not well enough to just send every random person his way. Basically, I want to blow off these networking inquiries from my colleagues and acquaintances, but maintain cordial relations. How do I handle this delicate task? [more inside]
ASUS is nearly two years delinquent in re-branding and re-releasing an existing Sony Optiarc firmware to allow their OEM version of an Optiarc drive to read dual-layer Blu-ray discs under Windows 7. iPhone security question: My employer is considering allowing the use of iPhones (and possibly Android phones) in place of our traditional Blackberries, but is concerned about ensuring security of our confidential information. We already know how to turn off the ability of apps to access location data on the iPhone, but I'm also looking for a way to prevent apps from accessing the contact list. Perhaps my GoogleFu is failing me--is there an easy (or not so easy) way to do this?

I rushed while putting in my disposable contacts this morning, and one of them had that irritating something-is-caught-in-it sensation that I ignored, thinking it will eventually go away. Instead it's been bugging me for the last four hours. Having no contact solution with me at the office, I took it out and gave it a one-second rinse in tap water before putting it back in. The irritation is gone and I feel great, but now I'm sort of paranoid that this short tap-water-bath is going to ruin my eyesight. (Thanks, Yahoo answers!) Is the risk bad enough that I should just take them both out and go contact-less today? [more inside]

I'm interested in expanding my professional network. I belong to a professional association, but I'm wondering if some broader club might also make sense. Would a fraternal organization be likely to help me if I ever wanted to move up in business, or are they vestigial antiques of the past? What else might I think about joining, and what could I get out of it in addition to contacts? I'm in Los Angeles, in the South Bay, if you have specific local recommendations.
