I just found out about SOFI, a company/ service that will let you consolidate your student loans - they solicit other alumni to lend. I am not interested in consolidating my federal loans (want that federal guarantee / public service forgiveness option) but I have two companies now servicing my private loans and think this could be a good option for me. I have $25,000 of credit card debt, spread out evenly over 3 cards. My interest rates are 18% (on a card I've had for almost 20 years), 15% (on the card with the highest limit), and 13%. Which one of these should I keep to minimize my debt but maximize my credit score? [more inside]

I have about 56,000 in private student loans from Citibank. They are at a variable interest rate. The interest rate right now is, of course, very low. When interest rates inevitably go back up, these loans are going to get very expensive. I have been unable to find anyone who will consolidate or refinance these loans. [more inside]

Help with credit card debt!
As a recent graduate struggling to pay off my student loans, I want to get a handle on my debt situation. I have about $6000 in credit card debt, all on 3 cards with bank of america. B of A just raised my interest rates to about 25% each. I have tried to transfer my balances to other cards with lower interest rates, but no cards will let me because my balances are too high! Help! Help! -- My credit debt is nearly $50,000, my mortgage is upside down by 25% and my fiancee walked out the door a month ago.
I can't make my bills.
I'm trying to sort out which route to go with the credit cards.
A service like CCCS?
Or some other route like Credit Elimination?
Please help me understand this.

In order to pay for graduate school a few years back, I took out two CitiAssist loans to pay for food and rent. A couple of years on, I've consolidated all of my federal loans, but the CitiAssist loans can't be consolidated with federal loans. [more inside]

I have several old data backup devices, with some overlap on what's on them. I'd like to consolidate them all onto a new device, but without having 3 copies of the overlapping redundant data. I think the term I'm looking for is de-duplication. Any open source or free trial tools that MeFites can recommend? [more inside]

It's the time to consolidate my school loans, or so I hear. My question is have any of you had good/bad experiences with loan consolidation companies? Are there any I should stay away from? With school interest rates at a low, will my payments be the same regardless of whom I consolidate with? I'm looking for pretty much any experience fellow MeFites have with loan consolidation so I don't mess this up.

FinancialFilter. I'm looking to consolidate credit card debt and am not sure what my options are. Advice?
I owe about $13,000 on four credit cards (14.9% - 19.9% APR), and about $35,000 on a consolidated student loan (4.5% APR). I've had a checking account with my current bank for over four years, but no savings account. I'm employed full-time, would be willing to close all but one of my credit card accounts when paid off, and although I don't know what my credit rating is, I know it's got to be pretty good. Oh, and I'm female, over thirty, if that matters.
What kind of APR could I expect from a signature loan? Is a signature loan a good idea? Should I leave my student loan as is?
