How to evaluate multiple software platforms for consolidation

"Help me do my job" filter. I work for a tech company, as a software developer/manager. Our group (a dozen people or so, including the managers/senior developers) has recently merged with another, and between us we now have a lot of "core platform" technology that is duplicated across all the varied products (think - user authorization/authentication, user preference storing, file validation, core business tasks like matching names to identifying numbers). And now we want to consolidate these so there is only 1 piece of software doing the core platform work. How do we do this? [more inside]

Legitimate Credit and Debt Counseling

Family member is in debt and needs help getting out of debt. I've researched both Appraisen and Clearpoint but both seem to be run by a corporation. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. Some credit counseling firms have charged big fees and gotten some people in worse trouble and even deeper in debt. I don't want her to get locked into something worse. Do these really help? Are they legit?

Any experiences consolidating student loans with SOFI?

I just found out about SOFI, a company/ service that will let you consolidate your student loans - they solicit other alumni to lend. I am not interested in consolidating my federal loans (want that federal guarantee / public service forgiveness option) but I have two companies now servicing my private loans and think this could be a good option for me. This is about to get scary.

I have about 56,000 in private student loans from Citibank. They are at a variable interest rate. The interest rate right now is, of course, very low. When interest rates inevitably go back up, these loans are going to get very expensive. I have been unable to find anyone who will consolidate or refinance these loans. [more inside]

school loan consolidation

It's the time to consolidate my school loans, or so I hear. My question is have any of you had good/bad experiences with loan consolidation companies? Are there any I should stay away from? With school interest rates at a low, will my payments be the same regardless of whom I consolidate with? I'm looking for pretty much any experience fellow MeFites have with loan consolidation so I don't mess this up.

How should I consolidate my credit card debt? What about a signature loan?

FinancialFilter. I'm looking to consolidate credit card debt and am not sure what my options are. Advice?

I owe about $13,000 on four credit cards (14.9% - 19.9% APR), and about $35,000 on a consolidated student loan (4.5% APR). I've had a checking account with my current bank for over four years, but no savings account. I'm employed full-time, would be willing to close all but one of my credit card accounts when paid off, and although I don't know what my credit rating is, I know it's got to be pretty good. Oh, and I'm female, over thirty, if that matters.

What kind of APR could I expect from a signature loan? Is a signature loan a good idea? Should I leave my student loan as is?
