I'm organizing a scientific meeting that will be held in late April. The attendees will be astronomers with a mathematical bent. We'd like to give them a "free" gift, but not the usual T-shirts and mugs. We thought of flash drives, but attendees probably have one already. Please give me your suggestions. Difficulty: (1) Can't spend more than $20/person. (2) Must have room for logos of five sponsors.

My company has an upcoming three-day conference for its analytics (aka market research or data insights) department, and we need a theme of some sort. We'll be holding it on a college campus in Philadelphia. The topics are very broad and it's hard to hone in on one topic, which is why I'm having some trouble coming up with something. Ideally, this will be short and sweet and, hopefully, a tad funny. Sky's the limit in terms of titles!

We are looking at the idea of using a flat-panel TV in our new conference room at work in lieu of a projector. The advantages of this would be that A) we could keep our existing lighting system, and B) it would look classier. Are there disadvantages to a setup this? Problems? Gotchas? And what kind of hardware should I be looking at?

I'm posting this on behalf of a teacher friend of mine who wants your ideas:
A university is developing an initiative in which pairs of professors, across disciplines, will meet up with small groups of first year students during their second semester to discuss themes of interest and promote intellectual engagement. These informal meetings will occur at least four times over a couple of months and can take place anywhere: in seminar rooms, in a dorm lounge, at a restaurant, at a professor's home, at an art gallery. So, what do we call these?

I need a cheap, semi-professional place to hold a week-long conference for college students in late March or early April 2008. We usually hold them over the summer on college campuses and stay in the dorms, but since this one is during the school year, students are living in the dorms, so I can't find a college willing to rent us space. The conference is for about 70 people. Help!

We are thinking of hosting a small (around 100 people) scientific conference in Colorado some time in April-June 2008. Our office in Boulder doesn't have a room that's big enough. A colleague suggested holding the meeting in Steamboat Springs, but Steamboat is three hours' drive away. I'd prefer something equally scenic but closer to Boulder/Denver. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Can anyone suggest good (and preferably free) video conferencing software? I need to run at 320x240 (min) at close to full motion and XP breaks NetMeeting. I have done some searching around and most of what turns up looks like it is designed for teenage-talking-heads types of chat applications, so I was hoping someone might be able to point me to something a little more industrial strength. Thanks, and the
Game Cube suggestion for Christmas was right on.
