Long Lost Bach Concerto

Help me identify a long-lost piece by J.S. Bach that my orchestra used to play in middle school! Notation excerpt attached. For many years I have been trying to identify a piece that that I played on the cello with my middle school orchestra two decades ago. I have no recordings of it -- it's just in my head. The casual title was "Concerto in E Minor" by J.S. Bach. I don't remember the BWV number on the piece. Obviously, Bach's output included thousands of pieces. I've gone through every "Concerto in E minor" by Bach on YouTube, and none of these was the correct piece. I've even gone through every Bach piece in a minor key on Youtube, knowing that perhaps this piece that we played back in the day might have been transposed from a different key. No dice. I am positive that the piece was in a minor key. I'm pretty sure it was written by Bach, and I'm pretty sure it was a concerto, but I'm even going through every classical music piece I can find on YouTube that is in E Minor to see if I can find my lost piece, and I come up empty.

It's a piece in a moderately fast tempo. I recall how the piece sounds, but in terms of precise notes, I only recall the first eight measures of the cello part. Click here to see the first eight bars: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/image.php?64db24abb8.png

Please help me find my long lost Bach concerto!

Ending concerts with concerti?

I recently came across an article (which, of course, is now lost to my browser's history) that offhandedly mentioned that traditional classical concerts rarely end with a solo concerto. Is this in fact true? If so, why would that be the case?

Rautavarraesque?

Classical Music Filter: What composers would I like if I like einojahuni rautavarra? more specifically, I love his piano concertos. But I'm not looking for just recommendations for composers known for piano concertos, wouldn't turn them down either.

Playing the 'Unplayable' Concerto

I want to learn to play the opening bars of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1...without being able to play the piano. Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto #1 in B Flat Minor is easily my favourite piano concerto, and by my favourite composer to boot. Rubenstein called it 'unplayable.' Despite that I'd love to learn how to play the famous opening solo. There's just one problem...I can't play the piano.

I play the violin reasonably well, have good background in theory, and even compose for full orchestra. When it comes to piano, though, I can only punch out simple melodies with one hand. To make things harder, I have baby hands, well under average size for an adult male.

Despite all this, learning the solo part would be the ultimate tribute (not to mention the ultimate party trick). The orchestral score is already in my possession, and a copy is available online too. I don't want to have to go through piano lessons, at least not for the sake of a lark.

Any pianists here have tips or tricks for learning complicated music, especially those directed at a newb? Also welcome are indications that I'm out of my mind.

For your trouble, a topical Monty Python YT.

Alban Berg Violin Concerto

12tone Music: I need a little help regarding Alban Berg's Violin Concerto Firstly i want to say that im studying music in germany so im not sure if i'm using the right terminology.
I know that the first movement symbolises Manon's life and the second one symbolises her death, but how do i analyse the parts in more detail?
The original row of 12 notes at the beginning symbolises her childhood (like a beginner tuning a violin) but what does it mean when it gets repeated and variated later on? (and how do i find all the variations?)

We won't be playing the reduced Britten Cello Symphony, I think.

Which cello sonatas are most accessible for the pianist? I'm slowly returning to my 'cello of ages old and I'm looking to play some sonatas with a certain someone. As I remember some previous sonatas I've played being a bit uppity for the accompanist in parts (Beethoven's A minor minuet?), I thought we'd start with something easier for Ms. Pianist and I to start with.

So, does anyone have opinions on cello sonatas (and/or concertos) that are moderately lightweight yet fun for the accompanist? I'm ashamed to say that I just wasn't paying attention the last time I played them...

Any pianists have favorites?
</vague>

Trumpet concerto repertoires?

TrumpetFilter: A long shot I know, BUT.. I'm a 17 year old trumpet player of reasonably high student standard, and I have recently been asked to consider performing a concerto sometime in the summer with my local youth orchestra. Could anyone suggest any suitable repertoire? (Not Arutiunian, Mozart, Haydn or Hummel).
