I'm an amateur classical pianist. I used to give solo recitals at college, and I would like to start performing again out here in the real world. But what sort of group/organisation/event do I need to get involved with to have this kind of opportunity? Could I organise a little independent recital for myself, or is that weird and too egotistical? [more inside]

I'm taking a holiday from around the 25th of July for 5 weeks to the UK, France and Germany. As well as doing plenty of sightseeing, I'd love to see some great live music by some bands/DJs that might not make it to Australia for a few years. Being in Melbourne, and having never been to the UK before, I have no idea about what source to go to, to find out what festivals or gigs by bands/DJs are coming up. Melburnians know to check their local street press, where do the Brits go to find out all their music news? Please recommend some great websites for news, reviews and schedules. Anything with an RSS feed would be awesome, but I'm not worried if it doesn't have one. A poke around in google found www.virtualfestivals.com which seems to be good for festivals, but not much for gigs. Not like the usual street press that I'm used to reading. I had the thought to go to Reading/Leeds Festivals or Creamfields, but I think they might already be sold out. I also have no idea where to buy tickets from. Are there major ticket agencies to head to? Is ebay a good option? Also, any thoughts, recommendations or live music experiences for festivals, gigs or venues are more than welcome! Thanks!

I went to see Ben Folds here in Milwaukee last night, and by about halfway through the main act, I was in serious pain, just from standing there. My feet, especially my heels, were killing, and my lower back was stiff and uncomfortable as well. My question is: Is there any way to avoid this? [more inside]

On Saturday night, The Futureheads performed on CBC Radio 3, and I missed it! I know that there are those that would allow me to listen to this concert, but for the life of me I cannot reach them. I've tried Google and Just Concerts, but they do not have it. (additionally, everything is in RealPlayer format, ick-city!) Where might I go to find such live concerts in MP3 (or similar) format? Play some Synyrd. The song. The t-shirt. The angry reply. Yet 1,120 results on Google and still no answer. Where did it come from? A movie? A book? A comedy sketch? Or was it just so common for people to request that Skynyrd be played that the call became ubiquitous?
My mother's husband is a big folk music fan, and his birthday is coming up. I'd like to get them 2 tickets to a good folk music show that takes place somewhere in the NYC area before the end of 2005. [more inside]

Having just been to a concert last night, I thought the whole tradition of the 'encore' was a little silly. I can't recall a performer ever not coming back to stage and belting out another few songs. Where did the encore come from? What are perfomers doing during their short "break?" Has anyone ever been to a concert performance where there wasn't an encore? Did rioting ensue?
After days of searching for a decent site of concert listings for my area i have decided to make my own. Everything i've seen is a mess and either very unclear or incomplete. What would be a good way to do this? [more inside]
ConcertSeatsFilter: I neurotically, obsessively bought two tix to the same concert at Madison Square Garden in an effort to get the best seat I could. Both are good for different reasons, so I'm having a tough time deciding which one to use. [more inside]

I'm the webmaster (well, host is more like it) for a band of talented young men with whom I attend high school. They're having a concert in an auditorium with seating for over 500 and I'd like to see it filled. How do you go about promoting a small local band's concert? [mi] [more inside]
I want to bootleg concerts that I attend so I can listen to them later. Can anyone here recommend a good set up for recording concerts in small venues? I have an iPod, and was thinking of using the Griffin iTalk to do the actual recording. Has anyone tried this particular setup before?
AutographFilter : I'm going to a concert in a few weeks time, and was wondering about the ideal pen to use (if any) on glossy paper with a dark background. [More inside] [more inside]
