You're standing at a rock concert. The support band is, at best, reasonable. You've no inclination to dance, but find yourself with neither pint nor cigarette nor shoulder bag to hold. What on earth do you do with your hands?

Does anyone know what live music will appear on the Hawaiian island of Kauai between December 30 and January 8, 2008? I'd like to check something out. Superduper thumbs up for any Okinawan music.

Where can I download a live recording of Electrelane's final show? I've emailed the band and gotten no response. Many of the places I used to look online for live recordings are gone.

I would very much love to attend Friday's Christmas Concert at the Palau Musica
in Barcelona with Jose Carreras (scroll down slightly to the 21st of December). Only problem is, it's been sold out for months. The box office, concierge, and Google haven't been much help, so it's time for Ask MiFi. I would appreciate any leads on ticket brokers/ticket exchange sites that might be of help. I only need one ticket.

The 17-year-old son of a friend from Austria is into hip-hop. He'll be visiting NYC on 7-10 December and wants to know how to find out about concerts, venues, etc.
Can anybody tell me the relevant websites to send him to?

I'm producing a benefit concert, to fight ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Do you know any bands or labels that might be interested in the cause? Maybe with a loved one with ALS? We're assembling a 1600-people show in Omaha, Nebraska.

I'll be in Cambridge, MA for a couple days of training at the end of August, and it occurred to me that there just might be a concert I'd be interested in seeing in such a far-away and exotic place. My musical taste is kind of difficult to categorize, but some favorites are Tommy Emmanuel, Alison Krauss, Rory Block, Gene Harris (no longer with us, but a good example nevertheless), Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Porcupine Tree, Nine Inch Nails. Does anybody know of any acts I might enjoy seeing on the 24th?

I'm an amateur classical pianist. I used to give solo recitals at college, and I would like to start performing again out here in the real world. But what sort of group/organisation/event do I need to get involved with to have this kind of opportunity? Could I organise a little independent recital for myself, or is that weird and too egotistical? [more inside]

I'm taking a holiday from around the 25th of July for 5 weeks to the UK, France and Germany. As well as doing plenty of sightseeing, I'd love to see some great live music by some bands/DJs that might not make it to Australia for a few years. Being in Melbourne, and having never been to the UK before, I have no idea about what source to go to, to find out what festivals or gigs by bands/DJs are coming up. Melburnians know to check their local street press, where do the Brits go to find out all their music news?
Please recommend some great websites for news, reviews and schedules. Anything with an RSS feed would be awesome, but I'm not worried if it doesn't have one.
A poke around in google found www.virtualfestivals.com
which seems to be good for festivals, but not much for gigs. Not like the usual street press that I'm used to reading.
I had the thought to go to Reading/Leeds Festivals or Creamfields, but I think they might already be sold out. I also have no idea where to buy tickets from. Are there major ticket agencies to head to? Is ebay a good option?
Also, any thoughts, recommendations or live music experiences for festivals, gigs or venues are more than welcome!

I went to see Ben Folds here in Milwaukee last night, and by about halfway through the main act, I was in serious pain, just from standing there. My feet, especially my heels, were killing, and my lower back was stiff and uncomfortable as well.
My question is: Is there any way to avoid this? [more inside]

On Saturday night, The Futureheads performed on CBC Radio 3, and I missed it! I know that there are those that would allow me to listen to this concert, but for the life of me I cannot reach them. I've tried Google and Just Concerts
, but they do not have it. (additionally, everything is in RealPlayer format, ick-city!)
Where might I go to find such live concerts in MP3 (or similar) format? [more inside]

Having just been to a concert last night, I thought the whole tradition of the 'encore' was a little silly. I can't recall a performer ever not coming back to stage and belting out another few songs. Where did the encore come from? What are perfomers doing during their short "break?" Has anyone ever been to a concert performance where there wasn't an encore? Did rioting ensue?
