I have two sets of tickets for Smashing Pumpkins at Allstate Arena and now I am trying to figure out which seats are the "better" seats in terms of having a pleasant concert experience which, for me, means being able to see at least part of the stage for most of the show and hearing the songs played loud through my really nice earplugs.

What's the correct term for secondary lyrics in songs like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer ("like a light bulb") or Sweet Caroline ("So good! So good! So good!")? Also, can you think of other songs that have these... items?

So, I live in Austin, but I've never done the SXSW thing. Seems like too much trouble. But The Strokes are playing a free show tomorrow night and I wouldn't mind seeing it. Trouble is, the show is at 8, and I don't get off work (out by Steiner Ranch) until 5 PM. My question is, would it be better for me to drive straight there and try to find parking, drive back to my apartment near the Arboretum and take the bus, or forget about it altogether? Looking for advice from anyone more knowledgeable of the local transit situation and SXSW in particular.

Concert Advice: Yann Tiersen (
previously) will be playing two nights in NYC in February. The first show will be an "unplugged set with orchestra," while the second will be with the "regular band." I can only attend one of these shows. Help me decide which.

So, theatre and music folks, question for you - if a venue is hosting two presentations only of a concert/performance, and they're two nights in a row, on which night am I more likely to see the better show?

Does anyone know of a Sarah McLachlan special event in Dallas Texas around the 1st of November 2010? Not talking about the concert tour event, but some special fan event or something. It was mentioned on 102.9 FM in the last couple of days.

I'm "THAT" mom - and it's that time of year. It's time to plan the Spring Concert performance for a Kindergarten class, having a "Jungle" theme; and aside from the limitations imposed by circumstances, only one rule applies: "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" has been banned after five consecutive years of being performed in every concert no matter what the theme.

I'm an amateur classical pianist. I used to give solo recitals at college, and I would like to start performing again out here in the real world. But what sort of group/organisation/event do I need to get involved with to have this kind of opportunity? Could I organise a little independent recital for myself, or is that weird and too egotistical?
