Has anyone ever been invited to an Artist's Den concert? I just got invited to the Jakob Dylan concert on Wednesday. What are they like? It says cocktails at 8 and concert at 9. Cocktails aren't included are they? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Paul

On BBC Radio 6 a few days ago, probably sometime late at night or early in the morning in British time (I was listening in the afternoon in the US) they were playing a concert recording of an artist who’s volcal style resembled a less coherent Amy Winehouse. One of the songs used part of tchaichovskys Romeo and Juliet for a hook, and it was all mostly soul/R&B type music. Any ideas what it was?

You're standing at a rock concert. The support band is, at best, reasonable. You've no inclination to dance, but find yourself with neither pint nor cigarette nor shoulder bag to hold. What on earth do you do with your hands?

Does anyone know what live music will appear on the Hawaiian island of Kauai between December 30 and January 8, 2008? I'd like to check something out. Superduper thumbs up for any Okinawan music.

I'm taking a holiday from around the 25th of July for 5 weeks to the UK, France and Germany. As well as doing plenty of sightseeing, I'd love to see some great live music by some bands/DJs that might not make it to Australia for a few years. Being in Melbourne, and having never been to the UK before, I have no idea about what source to go to, to find out what festivals or gigs by bands/DJs are coming up. Melburnians know to check their local street press, where do the Brits go to find out all their music news? Please recommend some great websites for news, reviews and schedules. Anything with an RSS feed would be awesome, but I'm not worried if it doesn't have one. A poke around in google found www.virtualfestivals.com which seems to be good for festivals, but not much for gigs. Not like the usual street press that I'm used to reading. I had the thought to go to Reading/Leeds Festivals or Creamfields, but I think they might already be sold out. I also have no idea where to buy tickets from. Are there major ticket agencies to head to? Is ebay a good option? Also, any thoughts, recommendations or live music experiences for festivals, gigs or venues are more than welcome! Thanks!

Play some Synyrd. The song. The t-shirt. The angry reply. Yet 1,120 results on Google and still no answer. Where did it come from? A movie? A book? A comedy sketch? Or was it just so common for people to request that Skynyrd be played that the call became ubiquitous?

Having just been to a concert last night, I thought the whole tradition of the 'encore' was a little silly. I can't recall a performer ever not coming back to stage and belting out another few songs. Where did the encore come from? What are perfomers doing during their short "break?" Has anyone ever been to a concert performance where there wasn't an encore? Did rioting ensue?
