My parents live in San Diego. This year is their 50th wedding anniversary. My idea, since they love music, is to find a concert or show that they could enjoy together. [more inside]
What audio or video recordings are available online of concerts where the lead singer/vocalist stops and the audience takes over to sing the lyrics or chorus of a song without them? Any genre. Kid-safe clips without swearing or explicit lyrics, preferred.
I'll be seeing Thievery Corporation at the House of Blues in Boston next Wednesday. The show starts at 7:00pm. Has anyone seen them recently? What time do they actually go on stage?
Have you ever been to an event that had something really fun and cool, that got you to whip out your phone and take a photo, that made you go "wait, this is free?" An example from a party I've been to recently is having screen printers make t-shirts and tote bags for attendees from designs they chose right there in front of them. More examples inside. I have a spare ticket for Belle & Sebastian at Red Rocks tomorrow night. It's assigned seating. My five year old daughter loves music, dancing and what Belle & Sebastian she's listened to. I'm not worried about her being at the concert -- just that it will be a late night. Am I being selfish -- bringing her along because I'd enjoy her enjoying it? [more inside]
So there's a concert I want to go to at a dive-y bar in my big city (for Toronto folks: Lee's Palace). None of my friends like the music that's going to be played, or at least none of my friends here. I want to go anyway. How do I go to a concert by myself? Do I? [more inside]
We have priority tickets to go to the BST (British Summer Time) festival in Hyde Park this June. I really just wanted to see Paul Weller, but can't figure out what time he'll be on (any way to find out?). Also I'm nervous about standing around for hours, about the crowds, etc. Yes, it's a very minor problem in the scheme of things, but I could use some advice on it please. [more inside]

I saw a reasonably popular rock band in a smallish venue a few months back and the sound was atrocious. It was all bass and drums and I could barely hear the guitar, keyboards or vocals. This band in no way plays bass heavy music. Is the band or the venue at fault? [more inside]
I missed out on buying tickets to the only London gig my favourite artist is playing this year (and on top of this he hasn't toured in three years) so I ended up asking my disabled friend if she'd come with me if I paid her ticket. This meant I was able to get tickets to the already sold-out gig after the standard tickets had long gone. While booking, I also realised that the disabled seats area is a prime spot in the venue and very near the stage. Was it immoral that I would "use" my friend's disability to enable me to go see this gig (in a better spot than I could've ever hoped), albeit with her consent/blessing? [more inside]
March Madness = free Muse concert. This is very good. Stuck at the venue all day waiting for them to play? Not so good. Survival tips needed! [more inside]
So, I managed to score 3 pairs of tickets to the Pearl Jam concert at Wrigley Field in July. I'd like to keep the best seats for myself, and I need some help! I've never been to Wrigley Field, or to a concert at a baseball field, so I'm struggling to decide which tickets are the best. [more inside]

How do really good and thorough event planners find dates with the fewest conflicts? I am in San Francisco, planning music events, and would love to find a comprehensive calendar including major festivals, concerts, bridge closures, naked marathons, sporting events, etc. Failing a comprehensive calendar, what main Bay Area calendar resources would you use?
Girl Talk is coming to town. I'm thinking of going. I'm not overly fond of a lot of modern rap, and it seems that is a common element in the samples he uses. Should I go to the show in spite of this, or will I generally end up being annoyed/disappointed by what he creates during his live set?
What's the correct term for secondary lyrics in songs like Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer ("like a light bulb") or Sweet Caroline ("So good! So good! So good!")? Also, can you think of other songs that have these... items? [more inside]

Hey folks that live in or are familiar with Wichita, KS: my 64-year-old dad and his buddy need a hand. They're going to see Bela Fleck at the Orpheum next month and would love a hotel recommendation for that night. The ideal would be driving in and parking at the hotel and not getting back in the car until they head back home. Is this doable for a reasonable price? [more inside]

So, I live in Austin, but I've never done the SXSW thing. Seems like too much trouble. But The Strokes are playing a free show tomorrow night and I wouldn't mind seeing it. Trouble is, the show is at 8, and I don't get off work (out by Steiner Ranch) until 5 PM. My question is, would it be better for me to drive straight there and try to find parking, drive back to my apartment near the Arboretum and take the bus, or forget about it altogether? Looking for advice from anyone more knowledgeable of the local transit situation and SXSW in particular.
Concert Advice: Yann Tiersen (previously) will be playing two nights in NYC in February. The first show will be an "unplugged set with orchestra," while the second will be with the "regular band." I can only attend one of these shows. Help me decide which. [more inside]
