Timeless Graduation Present for a Computer scientist

My Partner is graduating this summer, with a degree in computing, I'm looking for a present relevant to computing that would be a timeless present.

Should I convert to computer science?

I have an opportunity to enter a computer science program with the fees waived, though with difficult pressures in covering my (low) cost of living during it. On the other hand, my current field has terrible employment prospects and the income difference within a few years might make up for the debt incurred to do this. Please hope me – is this a good idea? [more inside]

How do I know when to leave a good job?

I'm a software developer in my early 30s, working in the defense industry. I'm pretty happy with my job, but wondering if I should move on. I would be looking to move to the San Francisco area. My question is, how do I know when to leave a pretty good job? [more inside]

Can I go back to school yet?

Help a completely inexperienced CS grad find his first job!

I'm a fairly recent and very inexperienced computer science graduate from a great public university, and I need some job advice. At the moment, I'd like to get into game development (specifically on the iPhone side of things), but I'm also interested in music and composition, mathematical art, animation, photography, and cinema, as well as archiving to some extent. What's a good job for me, and how do I get it? [more inside]

Am I okay in applying to jobs in completely new languages and frameworks?

I "fell into" a programming job right out of college. It is mainly C#, quite a bit of Javascript, all within the .Net environment. I noticed a lot of jobs are very specific on technologies used (such as Struts/Java). Would it be okay to apply for these jobs? How do I represent myself? [more inside]

GradSchoolFilter: How bad did I screw up, and can it be fixed?

I'm trying to get a M.S. in Computer Science, I already have a B.S. in Computer Science. Started last year as a full time student, took a semester off, and now trying to take classes while holding a full time job. My horrible time management skills combined with not knowing how crazy my job gets in August has caused me to do poorly in class. So poorly, that I may be "ineligible to continue graduate study". I'm very de-motivated by the whole situation and wondering what my options are, so I have a couple of questions [more inside]
