I just want to play UNIRACERS!

Argh. I've installed the drivers, I've searched high and low online, nothing is helping, so I'm coming to ya'll: how can I get my Xbox 360 wireless controller (connected to my PC via the charge and play kit via a USB port) to work on my computer? Specifically, I want to play ROMs with it. ZSNES and project 64 are the two emulators I'm trying to puzzle out right now. I've installed the 360 drivers (I'm running a 64 bit copy of Windows Vista Home Premium), it shows up in my Device Manager under 'Microsoft Common Controller for Windows Class' as 'Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play & Charge Kit' and says it's there and fine.
HOWEVER... under Control Panel - Game Controllers, there's nothing. I open it up, there's no controllers on the list. I click advanced, I go to choose my preferred device, again - nothing. Not on the list. When I plug the controller in, the computer makes a noise and the light on the charge part of the controller shows it's plugged in, but the controller doesn't turn on (not sure if it's supposed to actually) and it certainly doesn't seem to be working with my ROMs.

Help Mefi, help! Pretty please?

Is linux xp desktop compatible with Microsoft Office 2007?

Will linux xp desktop (the new linux program that looks like windows xp and lets one intall some windows software) let me install Microsoft Office 2007? What about an organizer program called Bottin? I'm thinking about converting from xp to linux xp, but I don't want to have to give up too much in terms of software.

DDR2 in DDR1 slot, same pin count

Can I use 200-pin SO-DIMM DDR2 RAM in a 200-pin SO-DIMM DDR1 RAM slot? I've done some googling about this, but the only answers I've found are that DDR2 has 240 pins and DDR1 has 184 pins, so it wouldn't physically fit. However, my laptop takes 200-pin SO-DIMM DDR ram, and I couldn't help but notice on Newegg that 1GB of 200-pin SO-DIMM DDR2 ram goes for less than half the price of the same amount of DDR1 ram. Can I buy two sticks of DDR2 ram and save myself a hundred bucks, or do I have to stick with the DDR1?

Drafting a new roommate

How hard is it to find a roommate in Toronto? I'd like to get an idea of difficult or easy it will be to find a roommate for August in downtown Toronto. I'll be moving to the core at the beginning of August. I could afford a single junior or small one bedroom in the $1100-$1300 range, but I'd prefer to save some money and live somewhere a bit larger. That's why I've decided to rent a two bedroom condo in the $1800 range and sublease the second bedroom. However, its almost July and I've exhausted my supply of potential roommates, meaning I'll have to live with a stranger. I'm wondering, will I have difficulty finding someone anyone to sign a lease or will there be so many applicants that I'll have my pick of the most compatible? How can I increase my chances of finding someone? I'd hate to get stuck paying the full rent, even for a month. The longer I go with an empty bedroom, the better it will have been for me to have gone for the 1 bedroom in the beginning. Is it too much to expect to find someone in the next month who'll be willing to sign a 1 year sublease?

Communication

Ok. I'm not a great communicator. I need advice on how to talk to my wife of 7 years about what each of us want and if we are still compatible [mi]. She wants me to do more domestic shit- get into gardening (which I hate). To be neater (I'm a natural born slob). To "try harder" against my depressions (which really pisses me off, because she has no clue). She wants someone who is more of a companion (I'm pretty independent- a go it alone kind of guy). We just seem to be pretty unhappy with each other. No harmony in our relationship.

We've gone to a counseler before, and we could do that again. I just need to figure out how to bring this up in a non-confrontational way so we can sort it out, regardless of the outcome.

Links to advice-type-things welcome too.
