I'm looking for a forum where I can ask questions about networking, security, coding, operating systems, web design, etc. There are
many of these out there, but I'd like to find a
single community which covers all these topics more or less equally (so it isn't a Linux forum with a small section on BSD, or a coding forum with a small section on networking). I'd like it to be the sort of forum where users stay around for several years as they learn and contribute at different levels, with high literacy and education-to-spam levels. Could I have your recommendations please?

Where in Brooklyn can I go with my crafts projects to hang out with other people who are working on their crafts projects, for free? I'm working on a number of portable crafts projects right now and I'd love to get out of the house and be with other people who are working on their own projects.

You're a young person, in your 20s or so, and you've noticed that quite a few of your similarly-aged peers & friends are in desperate need of care due to major mental and emotional health challenges - which are taking a toll on everything else. However, support services for this group are lacking. What could you learn or train in to be able to be a better source of support and care for your peer community?

If/When I go back to America, I would like to teach at a community college. I have a few friends who do this, but I would like to get the ball rolling. I could teach communications, journalism and business skills. My only previous experience working in education was as a major gifts fundraiser and I won't have my master's degree on paper February. I have not really TA'd very much since I was an undergrad. How should I go about getting my foot in the door? This would be in DelMarVa and California.

Looking for an efficient, respectful and fair process for a group of 10-15 people to reach a consesus.
Some of the desired results: everyone would be heard respectfully (talking stick?) and cast a vote, a maximum amount of people would end up aligned with the choice, minimized influence of power games and hidden agendas, speedy (1-2 minutes per participant, including voting, so w/ 10 participants, a solid decision could be made in 10-15, max 20 minutes)
Have you experienced an effective process supporting the above? What does it look like, step by step?
Is there a resource where I can look up practical approaches to community-based choice-making?

Need ideas for websites I could build. I am going to be in between jobs in the next few months. That gap could be a week or it could be a year depending on how long it takes to find my next gig. During that gap I would like to stay productive. I am a project manager, but I can write decent python/js/css/html. I need ideas for websites I could build that 1) I would have fun doing, 2) Would be something I could talk about in interviews, and 3) Could maybe produce a community, traffic, or a few dollars.

Hi,
I am about to graduate university and went through a long process of deciding what I wanted to major in and what I wanted to do after school. Suffice to say that those questions have been grappled with. I'm planning to get an MA in economics, and plan to take a year off to take my GRE and the appropriate math courses I need. In that year I'd like to do some sort of public service work in economic development (in the states, not in some 3rd world country).

Hi I am starting a ebooks community site where people can submit their books and then we will publish and sell the books for the authors.
I was wondering if anyone knew a good way to reach independent authors and how to market our site to them? We are looking for writers of self help, recipes, novels, and anything else. We really want to empower writers to get their stuff out their and to help them make some money in the process. Any help on how to find people like that would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Looking for family friendly neighborhoods in Austin. My wife and two small kids will be relocating to Austin. Our current neighborhood is filled with kids playing in the street and neighbors interacting with each other. We know and hang-out with a lot of our neighbors. We want a neighborhood / community like that in Austin. I know a lot of master planned communities bill themselves as family friendly but a lot of them always seem like ghost towns. Where are the true active / friendly communities in Austin?

I have tried Elgg and BuddyPress, but those solutions just don't seem to work very well, mostly because of issues with the templates.
I want to develop an online community that is based around my online radio station.
The community should have forums, chat, galleries, user search, comments, walls, and
all the other basic stuff that comes with an online community. It needs to be completely graphically customisable
I'm looking for the best solution that is under $600, but preferable free.
