Inspired by JHarris's HA! FPP, I had a sudden flashback to a promo that appeared frequently one of those comedy cable channels back in the early nineties. It was a strange promo in that it was advertising not a show but world peace. Middle school-aged me could never figure out whether it was sincere or not. [more inside]
I have been asked to produce audio for a business. The audio will likely be a :30 second commercial for radio, although the client is also interested in me creating audio content for their website. Is there a freelance scale for audio production rates that either includes the costs of pre-production, production and post-production or breaks out individual charges for consulting, idea development, scriptwriting, narration, adding music and/or SFX and editing?
I bought a microwave off Amazon that quit working most of the time after seven months' use. Attempted to make a warranty claim but the manufacturer says "this is a commercial unit and is not covered for home use". How do I approach getting warranty service or was it just a bad idea to buy a commercial micro? [more inside]
So some time in the 80's there was a commercial, I think for KFC, where they were comparing their restaurant to some dystopian all-things to all people fast food hell. Does anyone remember this? Can you help me find it? [more inside]
In the 90s or early 00s, there was a 7-Eleven commercial that looked like it was inspired by Brothers Quay animations. I have not been able to find either a video or even mention of the commercial itself anywhere. Halp? [more inside]
Help me impress my 14-year-old daughter (for once). Who is the young actor portraying the college student in this Southwest Airlines commercial? She thinks he might have been in one of the Harry Potter movies. [more inside]
I've been asked on short notice to take over a shipping position or role in addition to my usual work flow. This would primarily involve using Fedex to ship to destinations domestic and internationally. How can I get up to speed on this? [more inside]
I'm putting together a Halloween marathon party this weekend, with a few horror movies (about evenly split between good and cheesy selections), and lots of video interludes in between that speak to a sense of pre-2000 horror/VHS/halloween nostalgia. I need your help on the interludes. I'm finding it hard to pick the exact vibe I'm looking for, but for examples: [more inside]
So Awesome Mix Vol. 1 turns out to be a perfect album to drown out the sound of rain while I'm reading before bed. What other commercial mixes or soundtracks are similar (not too bouncy and without large changes in volume) and might also serve in this capacity. [more inside]
Where was the Magnum Ice Cream commercial with Rachel Bilson filmed? While some of the cars shown are American, I spy a Toyota Yaris with taillights that look very different from the US-market version, a Jeep with export taillights, and some other SUV that was certainly never sold here.
The song has been stuck in my head - I believe it is a Michael Jackson song (it is NOT, I repeat, NOT "Love Never Felt So Good"). I can't seem to find it on YouTube or ISPOT, but it shows people doing "autumn" outdoor activities in various Jeep models. One of the scenes is a pick-up game of football lit by the headlights of two Jeeps.
What is the car in this political advertisement? I believe it says Chevrolet on the front, but I'm not sure. Please limit discussion to identifying the car and not the people or politics in the ad - thanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2hSvyNHJN8
I've been trying to find a vintage frozen pizza commercial from the late 70s or early 80s. I've no idea why the particular commercial is stuck in my head, but it's like an ear worm. Until I can find and watch the thing, I shall be forever haunted by the memory. [more inside]

I'd like to explore leasing time in a "co-op" or shared commercial kitchen to start a small food business, making seasonal preserves and similar items in Washington State. Are there recommended blogs or books that discuss this from the business and planning ends, as far as what to look for, and well as how to deal with legal issues with bringing equipment and ingredients to and from such a facility (like fresh fruit, sugar, etc.). Do people store ingredients off-site, that sort of thing. (I'm mainly looking for non-state-official guides and written materials that deal with this subject from the producer end, just to focus questions away from the business itself or to Google search results to WA guidelines. Thanks!)
Couldn't Google this successfully - a recent car commercial in the US, guy is driving on a highway at night maybe. It sounds like NASA or other mission control and space noises are coming out of his radio giving the effect that he is driving a space ship. [more inside]

I'm looking for an old commercial for the weather channel that has two guys sitting in a living room watching the weather channel forecast with their faces painted like warm & cold fronts. It was like football fans cheering on teams except it was weather. Help?
What is the commercial from the 90's where a little boy says this? The best I can come up with is that it is a commercial for some type of charity, and the "plot" of the commercial is that this middle-aged guy donated and made life better for the boy. In my memory, the boy is playing with a puppy in a field, the boy says "I've never met you but I love you" in a letter to the man, and the man says "I can't tell you how that made me feel" -- kinda through tears. Any ideas what this was? Does anyone else remember it?
Am I allowed to rent an office and turn it into a small personal training studio? I have zero understanding of how commercial zoning works and don't know where to start. I am in Melbourne, Australia [more inside]
I'd like to find a newish, reliable cargo van with under 100,000 miles, good gas mileage (at least 15+ city, 19+ highway), and a high top. The first two are strongly preferred, the high top could go either way I suppose. My budget is under $18K. [more inside]
I'm trying to track down a television ad for instant soup that aired in Latin America in the 1990s. A young woman arrives home, prepares the advertiser's instant soup, and sits down to eat in front of a computer. On the screen, a man is waiting to welcome her to dinner, which was science fiction when the commercial aired. [more inside]
There was a Coke commercial a million years ago (or closer to 10-20?) where the narrator was saying all the moments coke was enjoyed and the words had an accompanying picture of a bottle or glass of coke. [more inside]

Trying to find a commercial from the mid 90s (?). There's a guy talking about a basketball legend. The way he describes this legend goes something like this: "One day he was raining 3s from the sky" "He would pull up from 25 feet and people on the sidelines would be yelling LAYUP" My Google Fu has failed me, since I don't know what product was being advertised. Ideally, I'm looking for a video link, but would settle with knowing what was being advertised.
I'm looking for a parking lot that can fit a few trucks in the DC / N VA area. Ideally it'd be fenced and relatively secure, ideally it'd be somewhat near a metro, and ideally there might even be a little bit of office and/or warehouse space; however, none of these are mandatory. I'm not turning up much in my searches on Craigslist or Loopnet that fits the bill. Mostly just finding huge warehouse or office properties rather than the dinky parking lot that we need. Does anyone know the piano song in the Comedy Central commercial for the new season of "Workaholics"? [more inside]
Having no luck finding a video of a Coca-Cola commercial from the early to mid-80s - likely featured the lyrics, "Travelin' down a dusty road, goin' to meet a friend." I believe it only played in movie theatres before the movie started, not on TV. Any help?
this is driving me crazy. at least ten years ago, i remember a commercial for jeans. levis, lee, wrangler, i looked for them all on youtube, to no avail. it's about some white dude, t-shirt, jeans, picking up some african-american woman for a date at her family's home. it makes a big deal about how he's white and he's definitely seen by the neighboring dudes as an interloper. can anyone remember this and/or provide a link? thanks.
There was a really funny commercial about a year or two ago... a husband and wife are sitting at either end of a very long dinner table in a Victorian styled dining room. They were both waspy ... straight laced, prim and proper. After a moment the husband looks up to his wife and says in a monotone voice "happy.anniversay"if any one could link me to that YouTube video you will have fulfilled my Christmas wish!
