Help me become a better (comic book style) artist so I can illustrate my own scripts. I need to become better at sketching, primarily. The human figure mainly, but also backgrounds and layouts. I don't have $$ for an extensive course, so I'm looking primarily for books and online tutorials. (I also need to find artists to illustrate scripts I don't have time to do myself, if anyone's interested.) Thanks.

Can you recommend some non-violent French-language comics that would appeal to someone who has never read comics before?
My aunt is a librarian for a bilingual French-English primary school, and has mentioned that she is resistant to buying comics/graphic novels for the library because she thinks they are non-literary. I really enjoy reading comics, and would like to suggest something she could read that would prove that comics can be just as satisfying as novels. They don't necessarily have to be child-suitable, in fact it would be ideal to find a literary adult (not 'adult') comic that she would enjoy. [more inside]

I'm making a lightweight replica of Captain America's shield (the modern-day circular one), most likely with PVC in a laser router machine. The only dimensions I can secure online are that it's 30 inches in diameter, but I can't find any info on thickness and concave depth. Anyone know the missing dimensions I need? Bonus points if there exist specifics on the width of the color bars but I'm pretty sure that part I can eyeball during painting. Thanks!
