Help me find ultra-comfortable, padded sole, but stylish footwear

I need various styles of footwear that work for me, which seems to mean extremely padded, soft, pressure absorbing soles, which are very gentle on my feet even when I walk and stand a lot, with my relatively high body weight. [more inside]

All-purpose classy-looking daily shoes/boots that will last for a while?

I'm looking for a pair of shoes/boots that will effectively function in as many different environments as possible: walking, hiking, sun and rain, dressing up for more formal occasions. (I'm a traveler and I only have room for a single pair of shoes in my life.) Comfort is a huge priority; I want them to feel as cozy as house slippers. Waterproofing would be a welcome bonus but not essential. [more inside]

Is it really so terrible to let a two-year-old drink from a bottle?

My almost two-year-old still has a bottle of milk before bed. It really helps her fall asleep and she is VERY attached. We brush her teeth afterwards, so tooth decay is not an issue (in bed while she is half asleep, since she is too young to spit anyway and doesn't need to be at the sink). She does not use a pacifier or suck her thumb, so the bottle is the only thing that gives her that magical sucking comfort. The doctor says we should stop with the bottles, but why? [more inside]

Best shoes for standing all day (8+ hours)?

I do customer-facing tech support for an eight-hour shift. Our stations have no chairs, which mean we stand for all eight hours. We have standing mats, which help (a lot!), but at the end of a shift, my feet and legs are killing me. So, people of MeFi: what are the shoes you'd recommend for someone like me? I'm currently wearing Skechers, which are comfortable, but clearly there's got to be a better choice out there. I'm a size 11 - 11.5 wide, depending on the make of shoe. Thanks!

Comfortable dog collars, buying online, EU/UK

It's new collar time for my soft haired curly, wavy doggy, so I'm looking for this combo (in order of importance): comfortable / secure / attractive, and wonder if anyone has recommendations. Local shops have very little choice, so options available via Amazon UK, eBay UK, or Etsy are especially helpful. [more inside]

Looking for a particular type of robe...

Hey hivemind. I saw this video, which starts with a Japanese woman wearing a rather particular type of robe, while at a kotatsu. It's somewhat reminiscent of a kimono, but big, comfy, padded cotton? Sort of like a wearable comforter. Anyone know what these are called / where I might find them? ... or, if necessary, a pattern for them?

looking for supreme comfort, discrete headphones for office use

My ears are very sensitive to pressure, weight, and motion. Also, they are slightly different sizes. I'm looking for some IEMs that do not tug, pull, push, wiggle, rattle, or anything else. The option to have different-sized tips would be useful - so, most earbuds are out. Probably, something that has a plastic hook that goes around the back of the ear would be good - but it also can't be too cumbersome because I wear glasses. Finally, they need to look semi-professional - so, no over-the-head straps, headphones are right out, nothing with skulls or diamonds or silly bling. please help!

World's Best Men's Robe?

I don't want a Robe, I want the best robe. I want a robe that looks both stylish and timeless - a robe Cary Grant could wake up in and stay in all day. I want a robe that is well-constructed and comfortable enough to last forever and I could lounge around in while still looking natty. I want something with a retro-feel and interesting colors. I do not want white terrycloth. Where can I find this robe? [more inside]

Best standing shoes for elderly mom?

Being comfortable sitting up!

I used to be ill and bed-ridden a lot when I was younger, living in a city with a climate that didn't suit me. I also spent a lot of time lying down (on the bed, the floor, wherever) reading or doing other things. Perhaps as a result, I don't have a very comfortable sitting position. I find it most 'comfortable' to slouch down in a chair with my legs up (against a table, for example). But that has recently been straining my lower back. I need to find a comfortable way to sit up! Help me replace my bum-around, easy on/off, handyman shoes!

I have some great shoes I love that are ... falling apart. [pic] Unfortunately, they've been discontinued! I can get something sort of similar but there are still some drawbacks. Diligent searching hasn't turned up my perfect work shoe, though. In short, I want something tough like a work boot, easy to put on and take off (i.e. velcro straps), but with walking-shoe type soles and as light as possible. [more inside]

Interpreter turned psychologist - navigating a difficult situation

I am in need of comfortable, loose, modest pants/trousers suitable for sitting cross-legged on the floor for long periods of time. This will be in public, so unfortunately pj's are out. Preferrably under 40US and not hideous to look at. Yoga pants are too form-fitting. I'm a US ladies size 8/10 with a small waist, womanly hips and thighs and 5'3"ish. Any ideas?

Career vs. Comfort

I work in IT and am 32. I've recently left my job of 11 years for a 10K pay increase and to try to advance my career. I really didn't want to do it because I was comfortable and happy where I was in the old job. I'm an ISTJ (introvert) and my nature is to not make big changes in my life. I worry about not having a clear path in my life. Ive been at the new job for 2 months now and It's been up and down but i'm definitely not as happy as I was at the old job. [more inside]
