Trying to make fetch happen...again. Movie suggestions, please.

There are a handful of movies I adore and have watched over and over: Bring It On, Clueless, Legally Blonde, Mean Girls, and, most recently, Pitch Perfect. Suggest more movies like this, please. [more inside]

NAME THAT FILM PART N, Regency Fop edition

Some time ago, on one of the national basic cable movie channels (USA, I think) which would run multiple showings of a given film for a month or so, I repeatedly flipped into a period film that amused me each time I watched a snippet. Unfortunately, I never watched enough of the film to get a good idea of the plot, and therefore can't effectively describe the story, sooo... [more inside]

Rom coms where the love interest is introduced later?

The standard format for a romantic comedy has both key characters introduced very early in the script/movie -- say, in the first ten pages/minutes. I'm looking for examples of romantic comedies where one of the romantic leads is introduced later in the movie. [more inside]

The Working Class Goes To Heaven

Happy May 1, everyone! Movie questions - I'm putting together a film series showing radical comedy about being working class/pink collar/lower-middle-class, mostly drawn from the sixties, seventies and early eighties. Or at least I hope I am - this was inspired by realizing how great 9 to 5 is and a vague memory of seeing reruns of other movies with a similar sensibility on the late show in the late eighties and early nineties. Carry On Metafilter

Are any of the Carry On films any good? If so, please tell me which one you feel is the best, with your rationale for why that is. Because I would be using this question as a possible springboard to watching one or more of the films, I'd like to request that you not include any of the actual jokes in your answers (e.g., "'Nurse, where's this man's tits?' Classic line!" None of that, please).

My brain refuses to give up the goods

Need a movie id. I saw it in the 80's and the plot was that the U.S.S.R. had created an "Anytown, USA" and kidnapped some americans to populate it with to study/observe. I thought it was titled "Back in the U.S.S.R." but alas the one on IMDB is not it.

Is there life after 'I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry'?

In light of the horrendously awful "I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry," are there any GOOD (i.e. both funny and non-homophobic) comedies about straight people either having to pretend they're gay or, more generally, about straight people slowly but surely letting go of their prejudices towards LGBT people? English as a second language TV show
