My life is a tangled mess...

I'm a 20 year old college student and I was recently cut off from my parents. I have literally NOTHING -- no health and car insurance, no money, no extra clothes other than the ones I ran away wearing, no car, no phone, and etc. Please help me get my life back together! [more inside]

Advice/Thoughts for a recent college grad who doesn't like his job.

I just graduated college and have been working full-time for one month. I really don't like my job because I think I ended up in the wrong industry/type of business. I'm hoping for any suggestions, advice, or thoughts about how I can go about figuring out what industry/type of business/job would be a better fit for me. I am talented, smart, and hard working, but I feel like I am wasting my life because I'm not interested in my company or the work we do. [more inside]

Sinking while trying to complete undergrad

Hi all. I've seen questions touching on similar points but none that really pinned down the more important particulars of my own situation, so here goes nothing. I'm a twenty two year old student now in what will be my sixth year of undergrad. I got to this point because, after my first two years went rather swimmingly, I suddenly fell pray to a mystery syndrome, complete with crushing, unrelenting mental fogginess, high anxiety and severe depression. My life has become an obsession with trying to find a cure for whatever this is, (medication for depression, therapy, supplements, sleep studies, hypnosis, meditation, lifestyle changes, etc. Nothing has worked and so I won't bore you with the details here. My problem is really my current standing in school. What was once a shining record with a 3.6 gpa and distinctions is now a narrative of consistent failure and I need to know where to go from here and most importantly, how to do damage control. FAFSAd Face

I'm doing my FAFSA for the 2012-13 school year. Because I'm 25, I'm considered independent. I'm working part-time as a tutor at a small private school, but some months my parents and grandparents give me more money than I end up making. How should this be reflected on the FAFSA? There seems to only be a form for my income. Any other tips are appreciated.

Should I invest in my state's 529 even though I might move in three years?

I have a question about 529 Savings Plans. Now that I have a little one, I'm looking to start investing in a 529. However, there is a better than decent chance that we'll move to a new state within the next three years. Should I invest in New York's Direct plan right away (which looks great - low expense and a nice amount to write off my taxes) even though I might lose future tax benefits in another state?

How to petition a college course prerequisite?

My community college requires a basic, high school level Physics course as a prerequisite to any other course in the subject. While I took such classes in high school, I have no proof of this on my transcript. My only option at this point is to appeal to the head of the department of Science and Mathematics. While I do plan on making as compelling of a case as possible, I've been told that they want to see some kind of proof that a student would succeed in such a class before granting the petition. Does anyone have any idea what kind of things they might be looking for? What might I be able to do to prove that I know the material and would be able to handle the coursework?
