How do flea collars work? Are they helpful or harmful? Our cat never had fleas, but we put a flea collar on him preventively because he's an outside cat. Now it looks like he's scratching himself really often, which we have never seen him do before. Should we take the collar off?
How do flea collars work anyway?

Even though logically I don't feel like he's "marriage material," I am overwhelmed lately with a desire to be married to him. Which way should I be going on this?

Our cat, who in the previous 6 years has not brought home any animals, has brought home 3 dead rats. Ew! What's up with that? Why now? Should we put a bell on him? Is he fighting off a rat infestation? Should we do anything about it?

My son has been given what he's been told is a decorative fuchi (collar) from a katana. It has some Japanese characters inscribed on it, and he's desperate to find out what it means - he has been told it's a name, but we have no way of knowing.
Here are a couple of pictures.
Any ideas? Hopefully it doesn't translate as 'Happy Toy Company'. Thanks all.

I have a Coon Hound and she barks a LOT. Pretty much on a constant basis. She has gotten much better about barking, but my husband and I are fixing to move and when we are gone we have been told that she howls/barks/cries the ENTIRE time we are gone. I have been looking at Citronella Collars, but before I opt into buying one I need to know if I can refill it with water.

I am literally allergic to nice clothes. When I wear collared button down shirts (with a stiff collar), I get red itchiness all around my neck, and if my hands touch it and then my eyes, my eyes start to burn. What am I allergic to? What can I do to stop it?

When I pulled out one of the component cables from my TV today,
this thing came with it. I can see by the jack left in the TV that probably all I need to do is gently push it back in, but given that the 2 flanges on the thing are different, and I think it's an electrical contact, I'm pretty sure there's one right way for it to go, and one wrong. I'm hoping for some guidance on which is which.

It would be great if people could share their favourite suppliers/retailers/tailors for affordable, quality shirts. I'm talking about shirts which are either interesting, different or vintage. I'd be especially keen on those with detachable collars - this was in fact the reason for my asking the question.
