lookbook for people who aren't 15-year-old artsy kids?

Does a collaborative, extensive, tagged and search-able (women's) fashion website like this exist? I'm aware of lookbook.nu, which is certainly fun, but I'm looking for something a little more sophisticated and grown up (with maybe a lesser emphasis on see-through stockings as pants).

My ideal website would have lots and lots of tags: brands, colors, item of clothing, occasions, even material. I'd imagine it would superficially look somewhat like lookbook in terms of structure, with lots of individual contributors. An aggregator site where someone goes through magazines and street style blogs and back-tags outfits would be great, too.

I want to be able to type in, for example, "skinny black jeans" and see photographs of a bunch of different ways to style skinny black jeans-- not on models, or at least not exclusively on models.

Movies about creative collaboration?

Examples of movies about people collaborating on creative projects? I'm looking for examples of movies that are about groups of people working on creative projects together. I'm teaching a class for artists and designers that focusses on collaborative creative work, and may show some of these movies in class.

A couple of examples I've come up with so far: My Best Fiend, about the troubled working relationship between director Werner Herzog and actor Klaus Kinski, and I Am Trying To Break Your Heart, a documentary following Wilco during the making of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

I think documentaries would be most useful for my purposes, but feel free to suggest fiction as well, or even other media if you think it might be helpful.

What's a good collaborative drawing program?

Can you recommend a program besides Opencanvas that will let me draw with my friends online? Lately I've been enjoying drawing with my friends on iscribble.net, but the tools leave something to be desired and Flash tends to make my computer slow down significantly. I'd love to find something like Opencanvas, which would actually be the ideal tool for my needs except for the fact my co-artist and I cannot get the networking to work.

Are there any other collaborative programs similar to Opencanvas that I could try? Pressure-sensitive brushes would be a great bonus, but they're not necessary.

We also enjoyed using a public Paintchat page, but I'd prefer something more private. Is there any app you can recommend like Paintchat which I could install on my own website? (The only reason I don't go for Paintchat itself is that the installation instructions are in Japanese and I haven't found any English directions.)

What software should I use for a collaborative blog?

I want to set up a collaborative blog with some colleagues. What software should we use? I'm not entirely averse to dealing with hosting and so on, but would prefer something that works "out of the box" or even better, is a free service. Needs: Login for specified users, probably less than 10 but maybe a few more. The ability to have specific "about us" pages for each user (although one "about us" page with a load of A NAME refs would do fine). Customisable layout. That's about it.

Collaborative Wordpress!

I've recently moved my blog to a collaborative environment and we're using Wordpress (and I have been for over a year now), but I'm having trouble figuring out a way for us to work that is as seamless as possible with the Wordpress install. I need some help figuring out what tools to use! We need the following: a way to communicate privately which includes a way to quickly share links and other post ideas. But what I'm wanting is something rather organic and streamlined, not perpetual drafts and such as a way to communicate.

Wordpress has a nice "editing" feature but that's where it ends. Unfortunately, I've not had any luck finding any plugins that can help this process and currently I'm using Ning as a backend to the site. I'd really prefer to keep it all in one place, however.

Thanks!

Building the timeline

I need a way for users to edit a timeline online. It doesn't have to be elaborate; it just has to allow a user to add an event to a history timeline. I'm too swamped to build my own solution. We're running IIS with classic ASP. Ideas for getting this pulled off? The idea is that there's some timeline:

1968 - MLK assassinated
1972 - Watergate

A user can then add in another event:

1968 - MLK assassinated
1969 - Apollo 11
1972 - Watergate

The timeline in question is for the 40-year history of my institution.

The main option I'm looking at is an online document editor, like Writeboard or Google Docs. The problem is that these users who know the timeline we're trying to construct aren't necessarily savvy enough to use either one.

Another option would be to throw up a wiki, but the wiki of choice here is OpenWiki, which from an editing standpoint drives me nuts.

The last option is to throw some sort of editor on top of the Simile XML. This one worries me since I'd be looking at doing direct file editing on the server.

So... is there an online timeline editor I've missed? Anyone else pulled off something similar? Any other ideas?

Best Collaborative Content Management Software

I am about to create a website for a university class on collaborative ethnographies. What software would suit my needs best? Right now, ExpressionEngine and Drupal 5 are my top two choices. If I am barking up the wrong tree, please let me know. Our project requires some combination of the following:

1) some sort of blog-like space where groups can post their ethnographic reports. Inspirations include Politics of Food and How Stuff Is Made, but we are looking for a more flexible, css based layout.

2) a forum, in which students can discuss their projects and issues relevant to the class.

3) Clean, user-friendly photo, sound, and video repositories where visitors can browse the work of the students.

4) Contributory permissions for all students, to upload media, write reports, add comments to postings, etc. At this point, all student accounts and permissions can be set by an administrator. Accounts should work for all areas, including content, media repositories, and the forum. Email capability is a bonus.

2) Eventually we might expand the project to include non-students as contributors. For the administrators' sake, some sort of automated account registration would be nice, with a public permissions type that is more limited than what the students have.

Group Bookmarking

Know of an online collaborative bookmarking tool for within a closed set of users ? Of course, there's I'm looking for an online service that will allow my small team in work to collaborate on a set of internet bookmarks/favorites (whatever you want to call them) but within our group only - not open to the public. Sort of like a hybrid between del.icio.us and irows, and equally free and easy to use. Any recommendations ?

Looking for online groupware app for volunteer scheduling

I'm looking for a free online collaborative calendar/spreadsheet app to schedule volunteers. I'd like it to have time down the left side and 3 columns with titles and the whole thing can be group edited. I need 7 consecutive days of 1-hr slots from 8am to midnight. Our local community radio station is doing its first fund drive. The drive lasts one week. We will have 3 volunteers per hour from 8 am to midnight. We have "day captains" who are responsible for the volunteers for their day, but we need to collectively know who's volunteering when and what slots still need to be filled.

I'd like an online application to do this so that we can all be kept up to date as volunteers are added. I looked at a few collaborative sites, but they seem to focus on paragraph-style text when I really want an editable grid.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Getting People Organized

What is the best time, and day of the week to organize getting a group of people together? I'm in the process of setting up an ongoing, collaborative project and need to have an initial meeting to get people together. I am in the process of sending out a call to action for the first meeting of the project and am trying to figure out the best day of the week, as well as the best time of day to get a group of peers together. These people may not necessarily know one another, but will probably only have 1 or 2 degrees of seperation between them. Also they will most likely be in their 20s-30s and have an interest in art/design/social issues. The end group would be a like a club or collective. Any ideas?

Wikipedia page history movie?

A few months ago I came across an animated movie documenting the development of a wiki page. Essentially it was made up of screen grabs generated by going through the edit history of a document. Much googling and MeFi/Boingboing searching hasn't amounted to much. Anyone know where this is? Am I imagining this? Also: Does anyone know of an easy way to create a similar animation with a PMWiki page?

Folksonomied Better Business Bureau

The better business bureau seems to be kinda worthless. Is there a generic website where I can go to rate local businesses that isn't awash with tons of ads or filler? I'm thinking something craigs-list-ish, but searchable, with Amazonian filtering (the website, not the large women, although that would be cool too). I think I just got ripped off by a tire store, and I'm tired of going through life a victim. Lazyweb, take me away!

If such a site does not exist, would someone please monetize this idea right now and give me stock?
