I have a vague memory from the early 50s of travelling along Front Street or Wellington Street in Toronto with my father. Looking south toward Union Station I can remember seeing small (two or three foot high) piles of black stuff on the road, and men with shovels . My father told me it was coke (the “solid carbonaceous residue derived from destructive distillation of coal” as Wikipedia defines it).

My Mom drank a can of coke. She discovered after drinking there was a mass of live worms in the can. She probably ingested some of these alive. I AM VERY CONCERNED. Photo below.

Having no luck finding a video of a Coca-Cola commercial from the early to mid-80s - likely featured the lyrics, "Travelin' down a dusty road, goin' to meet a friend."
I believe it only played in movie theatres before the movie started, not on TV. Any help?

Two soda fountains. Two paper cups full of ice. The first fountain consistently dispenses soda into its cup with very little foam. You could fill it all the way up to the top without having to stop once to let the foam subside.
The second consistently produces a very foamy drink, so that you have to stop, let the foam subside, fill again, stop, start, etc. until your cup is full.
What's the difference? Why the foamy soda?

Help me find this Coke commercial from the 80's! Someone I know starred in a "Coke is it!" commercial when he was a senior in high school (most likely in 1982). It was cast and shot entirely in Charleston, SC and featured beach scenes. His only description was "it was the opening of a beach house."

Does caffeine really taste like anything? And if not, why does caffeine free soda (specifically Caffeine Free Diet Coke on my desk) taste so much worse than the caffeinated version?

I have a dear pal with a coke habit that has driven him to homelessness. He is not a US-native; he grew up in pre-change Eastern Europe. He does have a green card. He has had trouble hiolding job and appears to have never received training in money-management issues either in the US or at home. I do not want him to die, which he will surely do this year if things do not change. What can I do?

Any jockeys or prizefighters in the house? I've read repeatedly that Diet Coke and other diet soft drinks have both sodium - which makes the body retain water - as well as caffeine - which acts as a mild diuretic. Which effect is greater? Will drinking a diet soda cause a net gain or loss in your weight a few hours later?
