Eats and Joe near Ace Hotel (Seattle)?

Seattle eats- cheap, cheerful, and coffee walking distance from the ACE Hotel? Hi- I'm eagerly looking forward to his first time in Seattle since 1985(!) this coming Saturday, have a week at Ace Hotel (loved, loved the one in PDX so giving this one a spin). I'll be on my own and like ethnic, especially Mexican which is thin on the ground up here (Calgary, and Canada in general), but also just about any stripe as long as it's good value, anything unpretentious and casual enough for shorts and runners (and comfy for a solo diner); and am a huge coffeegeek whose tastes run to places like Stumptown. Thanks!

Seattle & Vancouver Recommendations

I'm taking a trip to Seattle & Vancouver for an extended weekend. For these places, I'd really appreciate some info on: (1) where to get good coffee in the morning, (2) recommended pubs / microbrews to hit at lunch, and (3) atmospheric watering holes to finish up the evenings. Bonus for authentic Chinese food or a good steakhouse in either city! My fiancee loves a good medium rare charred rib eye. Thanks!

Where does one find the best whole-bean espresso in Seattle? I recently picked up a good espresso machine and a well-reviewed burr grinder, just shy of taking the prosumer Rancilio hit. Since I am loathe to subject my newfound kit to Starbucks, I need a regular source of high-quality beans in Seattle. I have heard the name Espresso Vivace bandied about. Yea or nay?

(And, Kramdar help me, since I'm already headed down this inviolable path, bonus points if they also sell fresh beans for aftermarket roasting.)

Can anybody recommend a place to buy coffee beans in Seattle?

Here's an easy one, hopefully. Can anybody recommend a place to buy coffee (beans) in Seattle? I'd like to buy my dad a couple pounds of a nice dark roast to go along with the various gourmet coffee-accessories I'm getting him for Christmas (don't worry, he doesn't read metafilter). I'm looking for a place that roasts their own and sells it by the pound. There's a lot of them, but what is your favorite? Where is it located?

I did a search for this, but didn't find anything, though it seems like something that's been asked before. Apologies if I'm wrong.
