I'm trying to compile a list of stories that cable news went insane for. OJ, Elizabeth Smart, Jon Benet Ramsay, Di's death, balloon boy, 9/11, Chandra Levy, Clinton/Lewinsky, Katrina . What other breaking stories have provoked saturation coverage on CNN/Fox/MSNBC, even if only for a couple of days?

Mark Leyner wrote a puff piece about the Women of CNN (or HNN) in the early/mid 90's. It ends with a really great thing about the world ending while he is soothed by their explaining it to him. I can't find it online. Anyone know this piece and what publication it ran in (and when)? Or--this would be swell--seen it reproduced somewhere online?

The CNN delegate count says Clinton: 818, Obama: 730, including estimated superdelegates.
The MSNBC delegate count says Clinton: 834, Obama: 838, seemingly NOT including estimated superdelegates.
What's up with that?

I'm trying to find a study I remember seeing that basically argued that the presence of more information on the screen at CNN (i.e., the 'crawl' or 'ticker') left people less likely to remember what was actually on the station during a given time (versus without)... does that ring anyone's bell? A reference would be amazing...

U.S. airport question. I seem to recall in the late 1990s that airport gate areas were showered with the cyclic noise of CNN Airport Network coming from TVs everywhere. Having flown recently it seems like something's changed... gate areas (at least the ones I've seen) have been really quiet and devoid of TVs. Is this trend I'm seeing for real? Or do some airports continue to pipe in programming / entertainment / noise / whatever?

On a typical day this year, Fox's audience is 845,000 while CNN's is 466,000.^
As a proportion of the US population (c. 300,000,000^), this is less than 1/300, or 0.28% (Fox) or less than 1/600, or 0.16% (CNN).
How come they wield so much influence?

Every computer in our house will not grant us access to a select few web sites... CNN.com, and Google to name a couple. The really weird part is that anything relating to Google... any logos, Google ads... nothing containing 'Google' will run on my, or anybody else's computer in our house. Can anybody shed any light onto our problem?

Very weird. The only website I can get to right now is the Metafilter family. Everything else times out with the error "www.cnn.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again." Dozens of other sites return the same error.

Yet ANOTHER Election Night Question: What network should I be locked into on Tuesday night? I want fairness, either by straight non-partisanship or true balance, good solid analysis of what each state's results mean as we go, and some personality and banter to keep it interesting. ABC? CNN? MSNBC? FOX News? (hah. just kidding about that one.)

I just found out that CNN is going to cover something I did on my website! Despite the anxiety involved in appearing on television, I am concerned that the bandwith on my godaddy account won't be nearly enough to accomodate the massive hits I will probably get. What do I do? Just pay for more bandwith? How much? Please help!
