Who makes the suit Ryan Reynolds wears in the wedding scene in the recent film The Proposal? Alright, this is embarrassing to ask because in doing so I must admit I sat all the way through The Proposal "starring" (haha) Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. That said, at the end of the "film" (hoho), Reynolds attends a wedding and is in a really great suit.

Simple, austere, black, stylish, tasteful, and light. (Note: it is NOT the suit worn earlier in the film during the movie's eponymous proposal moment. That's an sort of drab office number.)

Is the a repository of such information? Is there a way I can find out?

How will my tailored coat turn out?

Tailoring question: Tell me what to expect if I have my wool coat altered. Details and pictures inside. I have very little experience with having clothes tailored, so I have no idea what is possible and what isn't.

I own a wool peacoat. I would like the sleeves to be 1 inch, possibly 2 inches longer. I asked two tailors if it could be done, and they both said yes. I'm assuming this would be done by taking out the hem and using the extra fabric that is already there (about 1 inch).

Here are pictures of the sleeves:

Is this a common task that tailors perform? How good of a job can I expect them to do on this? Will the sleeve edges look exactly the same as before on the outside? How about on the inside? Will there be crease marks where the hem used to be?

Now, lets say I wanted to lengthen the sleeves by greater than one inch -- since it doesn't look like the hem is more than one inch, should I assume this is not possible? Or are there some magic tailoring tricks I am not thinking of?

Give me any details you can think of -- don't assume I know anything just because it's obvious.

Tips for buying a mens' leather jacket

I'm wanting to buy a (mens') leather jacket for the first time. What advice can you offer me? Bonus points if you can recommend a particular brand, or a store in NYC. Hey all.

I don't know anything about fashion or leather, but I want a black leather jacket because I think it would look good on me.

I'd like it to be warm, so that I could wear it through the winter. Ideally, it would also have some sort of removable lining so that I could wear it in the spring and fall. But most importantly, it has to look good.

So what should I know going into this? How do I know if a jacket is good quality? How do I know if I'm getting ripped off? What should I expect to spend on a good-quality mens' leather jacket? Are there any brands that you would recommend? Are there any stores in the NYC area that you would recommend?

Sexy Suits: This weekend I saw a woman wearing a blazer with a double-hem at the bottom, kind of like this one. It wasn't that one though - it was sharper, nicer fabric, not as round, with stronger diagonal line from the hip downwards. I so need one of these jackets! It was grey with a pinstripe. It definitely was not double-breasted. I'm pretty sure it had one button, but perhaps it was two. I'm in the US but the jacket definitely could have come from anywhere -- Europe, South America, Asia, etc., because she was incredibly well-traveled. Is this a needle in a haystack situation? Am I stuck trying to get one made for me? What are the other sexy, slightly cool details on blazers or suit jackets? This was a little detail that was noticeable but not screaming 'fashion victim' and was slimming, well cut and it looked sharp. Please help me with my ongoing attire search!

My jacket stinks of puke

How do I get the vomit out of a wool jacket? My friend had a little too much to drink one night and threw up all over my wool jacket. I tried to rinse it out with water in the sink but I didn't want to soak it because it's supposed to be dry cleaned. So a few days later I took it to the dry cleaners and they did everything they could, but when I got it back it still reeked and there's an oily feel to the wool where the vomit is. So. Did I do something wrong? Did the cleaners do something wrong? Is there anything else I can do? Or is the jacket ruined? (Yes, the smell still bothers me and I'll bet everyone can smell it too.)

Does anyone make a breathable windbreaker? (more inside) I’m looking for something to wear while cycling that will keep me warm down to 25-F, but won’t trap moisture. I wear a wickable shirt underneath a fleece jacket underneath a windbreaker (Pearl Trifecta). But I get totally soaked with sweat within about 30 minutes, even in the coldest temps. Vented windbreakers don’t seem to work for me. Is there a fabric that stops the wind but breathes?

Pea Coat

The buttons are falling off my pea-coat and it's starting to shred in the worst possible places. How can I find a new coat?[more inside] I would like to replace it with a Russian wool military trench coat. The one I have in mind would be green where the middle portion (the part from the lapels down) is red. the coat that I'm thinking of is roughly the same as what the guy in Freedom Downtime wears at the computer convention. I've tried ebay, google, and my usual Russian goods suppliers but can't find a coat that looks like this. Can anyone help?
