I'm trying to figure out if it's possible to buy reasonably priced mens clothing online. To be a little more specific, I am a college student who doesn't have a ton of money to spend, but I'd like to get the largest bang possible for my buck as far as clothes go. The sort of stuff I'm looking for fits somewhere on the spectrum between what Urban Outfitters has to offer, and what Tom Waits wears - if that makes any sense. I'm mostly covered in the pants department at the moment, so stuff like shirts, shoes, and socks are what I'm interested in. [more inside]
What clothes can I wear to reduce sweating while doing contra dance? I've considered wicking shirts, but I thought that they might cause the sweat to simply end up on the shirt's surface of my shoulder where my dance partner holds me. Does that make sense? I want to minimize sweat there. It would be really helpful if you could be very specific, to the point of links to products.

What is different, in terms of the stitching or the weave & so forth, between a $50 Gap shirt and a $400 italian shirt? Between cheap blue jeans and couture jeans? How would a knowledgeable person be able to look at an item of clothing and immediately be able to tell that it is very well-made? I'm aware that some (most?) of the markup in price comes from buying a brand name, or the fact that the design is compelling. I'm not interested in that; what I'm interested in are the differences in construction, differences that are objective rather than subjective. Also, pointers to websites with helpful pictures would be greatly appreciated.
