I have a job interview next Friday. Yay! But I have questions about what is a setting-appropriate choice.

Stylefilter! I love my new puppy. I love my boyfriend. I love that my boyfriend loves waking up early and taking the puppy outside. However, he doesn't love getting fully dressed at 6 am in his normal clothes, and I don't love things like track suits and crocs. Help!

Where am I NOT looking for great women's clothes which aren't too expensive? I'm a UK size 18 (US size 16, I think), and shop in all the usual UK high street places that go up to that size. I'm looking for clothes which are a little quirkier and more interesting than what you can find there.

How do I look like a professional young working woman when my body-type gets in the way? Fat (pear-shaped), with curly crazy hair. I look fine in casual, float-y, "girly" clothes like wrap dresses and tunics, but put me in a suit and I look really frumpy.

Where would you buy a waistcoat (you know, like the vest part of a three piece suit) in Chicago? I know that All Saints has two in the fall line, but they (like the
department stores) are
both basic
black. Guy is looking for something a little more exciting, maybe with matching pants. I don't want the responsibility of sewing it myself (and pants are definitely beyond me, anyway). Custom is probably okay; online is okay; custom on-line is not preferred. He will not have the patience for going through vintage or consignment shops.

My new obsession is argyle socks. Please recommend places I can find quality argyle socks for men, suited to brown / tan slacks and jeans. $10 / pair or under preferred. Bold, bordering on obnoxious, colors get bonus points.

I love the look of ladies neckties and I want to start wearing them to the office, but I am not sure how to go about sizing them to fit (5' 1") me. I think most men's ties look too wide, and I know there are also skinny ties, but I'm assuming they'd be too lengthy...

Hey guys.
I'm 18, male, British, and have really no sense of style clothing-wise. What's the best way for me to very quickly builds some sort of fashion sense, so that (a) I can start wearing clothes that actually look good and (b) I feel less in the dark when people talk about such matters? Basically, what I need is some sort of crash course in style: the lessons I would have learnt if I hadn't spent my time programming.

A few years ago, I had a girlfriend who (gently) took me to task about my wardrobe and made a few suggestions as to how I could look better. I could see the difference after I'd tried a few new outfits, but I'm not very good at coming up with them myself, and I'm not very good at knowing what looks good and what has to change. It recently popped into my head that I could hire someone to help me out with this, but I know absolutely nothing about how to do so--although I hope MeFi harbors someone who does. Can you help me?

I'm finding myself liking punkish/gothic/emo type clothes (I never have before), such as Criminal Damage's "Hook Trench" and "Military Jacket" coats. Is this acceptable for wearing-around clothes, or just too "weird" for most people? I'd like input on this, since it's all rather new to me.
