Hey clothes-loving folks! I've been reading about capsule wardrobes, paring down clothing, and other minimalism-type posts My question is- does anyone know of a good post on capsule wardrobes/minimalism that has color in it? Something along the lines of "hey, I'm a minimalist and I love color, here's how that works" [more inside]
I wear cardigans every day, and I want to leave them open in front (whether they have buttons or not). But when I walk, my cardigans blow open, slide off my shoulders and then down my arms. I am constantly pulling them up or even holding them as I walk. What could I do to solve this problem and keep my cardigans in place? [more inside]
I really like the sweater Aaron Rodgers was wearing in his press conference after the Packers game last night. Can anyone help me figure out where I can buy one exactly like it?
This previous question could almost be me--except that I'm much larger. I need to find a wedding outfit for a December wedding in Vegas, and I'm profoundly uncomfortable in dresses. Can you help me find sources for dressy straight-butch-ish clothes, in maybe a 26/28 size pant and a top size that ranges from 28 into the 30s? [more inside]
The advice "The generally accepted rule is pink for the boys, and blue for the girls" can be found quoted many, many places online (all clearly originating from one ur-source), attributed either to the Ladies Home Journal in 1918 or Earnshaw's Infants Department (invariably identified as "a trade publication"). Which was it? Was it, in fact, either? [more inside]
I'm attending my sister-in-law's wedding next month and we finally got confirmation that the ceremony/reception dress code will be "cocktail". I'm a woman who is tired of buying dresses I hate wearing and feeling uncomfortable at these sorts of things, so what can I wear that's appropriate but also me? [more inside]
I'm going out tonight and bought something to wear which I'm now totally unsure about and I only have a few hours to panic-buy a replacement if it's unsuitable. So fashion mavens of MeFi - should I wear this or, as always, am I All Wrong? [more inside]
I need to start dressing more professionally, but I'm terrible at it and the sort of person who would happily wear t-shirts and shorts or jogging pants all the time if it were acceptable. How can I get better at this? [more inside]
Young professional woman seeking pants that fit. Caveats and such below the fold. [more inside]
I need to build a small set of work clothes that I can combine and re-combine. Unfortunately, since this is retail sales(with attendant conservative clothing policies) , there are some severe constraints in place. Feeling creative? [more inside]
I want to buy a nice suit. My top priorities are ethical labor and reasonable price (and yeah, I'd like it to look good). Moderate complications: I'm a masculine woman who wants a "man's suit". Additionally, I'm looking for another suit for my tween daughter, but cut in a "mannish femme" style (think Annie Hall). [more inside]
I'm looking for casual, stylish summer pants. [more inside]
Hey hivemind. I saw this video, which starts with a Japanese woman wearing a rather particular type of robe, while at a kotatsu. It's somewhat reminiscent of a kimono, but big, comfy, padded cotton? Sort of like a wearable comforter. Anyone know what these are called / where I might find them? ... or, if necessary, a pattern for them?
I don't fit my clothes and I don't know how to buy new ones. Fashion advice for a woman with a tight budget, uncertain taste and a rapidly changing body? [more inside]
I've seen lots of TV shows where someone will get a guy up to speed with grooming, help him come up with a "style", take him to the right cosmetics people, hair stylist, etc. I want this overall service too. Do these sorts of people exist in real life, what are they called, and can I find one here in the UK? [more inside]
I'm looking for some awesome blogs that highlight men's wearables and accessories. [more inside]
Hi, I'm looking for a magazine or website that sells clothes that are new but have an old fashioned look. [more inside]
Hey folks I'm a reasonably fit male, 5'10" with a 32-34" waist and enormous thighs. Finding good pants is always problematic - typically they get around my trunks and are completely loose around my waist. I've had the best luck with Lucky brand jeans, but there must be more pant options out there. I try to dress casual chic - any tips, tricks or brand recommendations would be appreciated.
I need help finding non-floppy tops to wear to work. As a petite woman with a nice figure, all I can find is tops that are loose and baggy; I'm looking for clothes that are a little more form-fitting. [more inside]
I would like to have a few shirts made, I think? And maybe, eventually a suit? Please explain the basics of a professional tailor. [more inside]
I know I could just ask y'all (and I might), but-- is there some sort of fashion-oriented online community where people are hip and helpful, where I could post the relevant information about myself (build, taste, lifestyle, climate) and say "build me a minimal wardrobe for the fall?" And then they would have fun putting together a handful of links for me, and I could get dressed and look sharp and not have to think about it? [more inside]
Can you help me find the form-fitting, top-supporting undershirt of my dreams? I'm looking for something I can buy 15-20 of because I hate shopping and just want to get it over with. I've been wearing "long and lean" tank tops, and they're completely amazing fresh off the rack, but they get loose and stretchy after only a few washes and wears. Specifics below the fold! What are the basic essentials for a young man's wardrobe? What's the best approach to building a versatile, comfortable, and stream-lined wardrobe from scratch? [more inside]
My company just moved from business casual to casual. Most of my clothes are business casual and I'd like to upgrade my wardrobe (on a reasonable budget) to dress sharp in a casual (jeans ok, shorts not) environment. I'm 30 in middle management so looking for something contemporary, but not cutting edge that would look sharp in a big, conservative Midwest company. Can you point me to online resources to help find outfits that look good and are reasonably priced? Thanks in advance!
The past 3 years of my life have brought both steady weight gain and financial instability, leaving me with a very sparse, heavily-worn and ill-fitting wardrobe. The financial strain has finally lifted, so yay! time to get some new clothes. The problem? I'm 10 weeks pregnant, teetering into plus sizes, and trying to strategize my purchases for maximum future wear. [more inside]
I need new clothes, and I would like, for once, clothes that look good. Significant bonus points if they signal modesty and I can do some physical work in them. [more inside]
Looking for something in between gowns and suits. [more inside]
Which clothing stores in NYC have good casual/business casual clothes for larger men? My boyfriend and I are going clothes shopping this coming Saturday to prepare for an upcoming trip. He has a suit, but other than that, all his clothes are jeans and tees. For this trip, we are looking for: casual button down shirts (oxfords or plaids), non-jeans/non-khaki trousers, a sport coat or blazer, and some shoes that fall in between the New Balance sneakers he usually wears and the nice black shoes he wears with his suit. Sizes and price range below the cut. [more inside]
My sister recently unearthed this photo of Wee Baby JulThumbscrew experiencing the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. I developed an immediate, nigh-unto incapacitating desire for an adult-sized version of the swimsuit I was wearing in the photo. Does a grown-up version of this thing exist? WHERE?! If not, is anyone making decent custom swimwear these days (perhaps on Etsy)? Thanks, Hive!

The focus should be on the bride, NOT on the taffeta-covered hobo skulking around the cheese trays: please, PLEASE help me (a non-fancy-dressing lady) dress myself for the four weddings I'll be attending this year. (Sequins shaped like) snowflakes inside! [more inside]
I'm looking for some fashion blogs for people that don't want to dress as "stereotypical man" or "stereotypical woman". Most of the genderqueer-umbrella-style blogs that I've seen have (presumably) male-bodied individuals wearing clothes that are stereotypically worn by female-bodied individuals, or vice versa. I'm looking for blogs where clothes that could be worn by anyone without other people batting an eye, are showcased. Genderqueer/non-cis clothing, if you will.
I am looking for a new clothing supplier. The previous company I shopped with have been outed as a bunch of labour-abusing dirtbags and I can't have that. I need to know the names of some places I can buy clothes with confidence and conscience and was hoping maybe I could get some suggestions. [more inside]

I'm looking for clothes which are a little quirkier and more interesting than what you can find there. [more inside]
