I have an Excel spreadsheet with couple hundred rows: URLs, a few fields of identifying information (outlet, etc.), for media hits on the organization I work for. I need to make this into a pretty (or at least semi-legible to the computer illiterate) document that I can give to board members, senior staff, etc.
What I would like is to use some form of scripting to automate this. Bonus points if the script can somehow open the URL and take a screenshot of the story so that I don't have to.
I have a Mac, and both the Adobe and Microsoft suites. How do I not spend tedious hours manually doing this? Especially since I have to do it each month and quarter.

Does anyone know where to download any of these Chinese sensationalist pseudo-documentaries made of 9/11 that mix real news footage with clips from blockbuster films? They freely mix fact and fiction, using news footage and illegal clips from Hollywood films. There were three made, with the titles: 1) "The Century's Greatest Catastrophe" (I've also seen it called The Century's Great Catastrophe") and 2) "Surprise Attack on America" and 3) "America's Disaster: The Pearl Harbor of the Twenty-First Century"--all made in 2001. There is a report on them in an article that was in the
New Yorker. Also mention of them made
here. Since they are illegal mash-ups of existing source material, I don't mind if I have to download them from 'questionable' sites. But I'd really like to consult these films for a study I am writing, and would appreciate any pointers as to where to find them.

What is the easiest way to cut clips out of movies on OS X? I use VLC and I'd love to be able to cut out little 10 second pieces by putting in the timestamp of the beginning and end of my desired clip, is this possible?

How do I get the highest possible quality when ripping clips from DVD's? I've been using AoA DVD Ripper software to make .avi files, and while some of them look just fine you can sometimes see a huge difference in quality. Should I be using different software or settings?

I have trouble keeping up with the big political news on television. So I use the clips on
crooksandliars.com as a way of staying on top of what the current political stories are and how they are being discussed. What I don't like is the editorializing. It's not that I disagree with all their takes, I just find that the way they push their agenda distracts from what I am trying to get from the site. Is there another blog that can keep me up to date with the current television news cycle that is a bit more unbiased? Specifically one that includes video clips of the pundit discussions?

Remember my request for
sci-fi music? Six months later, I'm finally ready to make my CD mix. Almost. Last night I figured out how to record mp3 audio from DVD on my Mac, and now I want to rip key dialogue snippets from classic sci-fi films. I went for Khan spitting at Kirk from his grave, but there's too much incidental music. I think maybe I can get Ripley signing off.
What other short, iconic soundclips from sci-fi films should I look for? The intro to the old
Battlestar Galactica? Something from
Logan's Run?
Blade Runner bits? Eerie, ethereal, otherworldly, outer-space stuff is best. (Bonus points if you can direct me to a source that's already done the work for me; right now I'm looking at a several-week Netflix slog.)

I'm trying to find a brief video clip from the movie Cabin Fever. The clip is of a young, mullet-haired boy (named Dennis) shouting out "Pancakes! Pancakes!" while doing some martial arts moves.
I've found the clip on the web before (over a year ago), but haven't been able to locate it recently. I've tried Google searches with no luck. Any help would be much appreciated.
