If I slap a ms word clip art image on a business flyer, are their any legal issues to take into consideration? I was approached someone about whipping up a flyer for her cleaning business. Nothing special, just the basics with "...maybe a little broom or something." My understanding is that she'd use it to post on bulletin boards, or hand out to interested people as kind of a business card. She's an incredibly sweet woman who is eeking out a living and trying to make a better life for her and her kid, I don't want to expose her to any potential problems.

Also, what is a good way to sum up "weekly, monthly and 'custom cleaning intervals'"?

How to Resell Clip Art

How to find clipart reseller programs? There is a ton of clip art sites, if i wanted to create a partnership with clip art companies where I sell their designs on an individual basis is their a platform for this or do you know any good clip art resellers? I've found sites that have a low cost per individual design. A lot of these clip art sites looks like they've been online for 10 years and I've emailed a bunch of them without response. Also there is a ton of shady ebook type sites spouting on how you can get rich selling ebooks... which is not something I'm interested in.

Medical clipart collections on CD?

I'm trying to find a CD with quality clipart / illustrations of nothing but the human digestive system. I've found a lot of CD's that offer general medical imagery, but nothing that has ONLY the digestive system. I've found some sites that offer individual images, but most of these are at least $200 per image. Anyone know of a cheaper source?

I work at a University in a department that produces a lot of handouts and pamphlets for students. The problem is that they're horribly laid out and look dated. I'm going to have an uphill battle to convince my co-workers that they need to be changed, so in preparation can I get any advice about what is involved in producing good handouts and pamphlets? Any answers that involve why MS Word clipart is bad are welcome.

I am trying to find a very specific piece of clip art, which I scanned at a low-resolution during the latter part of the last century and which I now need at a much higher resolution for a print project. It is a woodcut image of a person hefting a fountain pen above his head; you can see a small version of it on the front page of my personal website, which is listed in my profile. I'd like to find an original print source or a high-res digital source. I've browsed every Dover collection I can find and several other sources, but can't find it. Can you?

Where to find clip art of ballerinas and rainbows?

Anyone know where to find nice images (clip art or otherwise) of rainbows and ballerinas? I am helping a friend paint her daughters' rooms in her new house tomorrow. The girls want a rainbow on the wall of one room and a ballerina on the other. We have an opaque projector to use, so I'm looking for images that could be easily copied, almost cartoonish I guess. No shading or anything like that. But I'd like to find cool ones! Since it's just for the house we can grab the images from anywhere, but I don't even know where to start...thanks!!!

Just a sketch or two...

I'd like to hire graphic designers for simple sketches and illustrations. I'm looking for decent quality work and I'm willing to pay fairly. How would one go about this? What should I budget? I've been doing web design work for a little while now, but my biggest limitation to business growth is that I'm not a particularly proficient illustrator. I'm not very good with results (not terrible either), and it takes me a long time to sketch ideas or make things come alive either on paper or on the screen. Once I'm beyond the sketch phase, things move pretty quickly.

I've tried to practice with it, but there's an immediate need for decent-quality artwork that I just can't fill by myself with my limited schedule. Searching stock databases to find specific types of illustrations takes too long, and the prices for exclusive use are often beyond my reach. I know some illustrators personally, but their professional rates are staggering for the small projects that I've been doing. I don't need a month's worth of graphics work, just a few hours here and there.

If I wanted to contract out work like simple sketches and graphical elements (repeating background textures, buttons, decorative elements), what could I expect to pay for such things? Do graphic designers have hourly rates or rates for simple elements like clipart sketches (not entire websites)? If I start commissioning graphics work, I want to offer fair and competitive prices for the work.

Any info about this or related stuff would be appreciated.

Ex: Take a look at the selection of the Pin Up Girls images on Fenderskirts Vintage. I'm not big into vintage illustration per se, but the silhouette images (Pinup132) are good representatives of the things that I'd like to include in my designs. I can do a lot with vectorized cut-outs and quality clip-art. It just takes me too long to make them myself with my dinky mouse and shaky hands. Full color illustrations could be nice for larger projects, but I don't know much about those either.

(BTW, I'm willing to accept that some things just take a long time to complete and that my ideas might not be feasible for small projects with tight budgets. So please do tell me if I'm crazy.)

Moste Odiferouse Emissione

I'm looking for some (free) stock art borders to use on certificates that I'm printing on the computer (like this). They don't have to be fancy, or classy looking (these are for immature, jokey certificates like "loudest fart", etc), but variety is appreciated. I've been trying to look for stuff like this, but I'm not having much luck, surprisingly. I know that there are programs that have lots of "wizards" for this sort of thing, but .tiff or even .jpg to use as a background would be much, much easier.

Disappearing libarry books!

Dear artists/collagers/librarians, I have a two-part question, and the first part is a doozy: I'm looking for a specific book of copyright-free clip art/etchings & I don't know the title. The second part: recommend your favorite books of copyright-free etchings! Specifically, I'm looking for a particular book of copyright-free clip art/etchings. It's a very thick book (~300+ pages) with thousands of images, devoting whole pages to beetles, for instance, as well as to fish & undersea creatures, printmaking equipment, early machines, architecture, the human body from bone structure to fully clothed, etc.

Almost all the images are monotone: black & white etchings from the 18th & 19th centuries (I think). Towards the latter part of the book whole scenes show up, rather than a page full of 50 winged insects.

The book itself (not jacket) is off-white (or tan, or khaki?), about 1.5x wider than it is tall, probably something like 8"x12", & not an oversized book. In my old library it was a reference book in the clip art & copyright-free images section (I'd call them, but last time I was back, it was missing from the shelves!).

Part 2: If there are any similar books of illustration-style etchings that you really like (& that are public domain), tell me about 'em! I'm looking for old-style etchings (like this), not the silhouettes or more recent-looking drawings that the Dover clip art collection mostly features. (I'm mostly looking for bizarre plants & animals, as well as medical illustrations.)

I have searched and searched online for American Indian art to no avail. More specifically - I'm looking for the kind of bold clip art (thick lines) or logo-type of art associated or signifying with each of the following: Shawnee, Lakotas, Iroquois, Ojibwe, Cahokia, Cherokee - animal art is fine as well. Are there any symbols of the same type of art that might relate to law or justice??. Am I looking for something that doesn't exist? Thanks in advance for any help!!!

I want to be able to say "All the art available here, and all future art available here, is available for you use, royalty-free, all you want. This license is non-transferable. Other people, who haven't paid me cash like you have, may still use this art but must abide by the Share-Alike CC license on the site."

I'm new to MeFi and I assume it would be gauche self-promotion to include a link to the site I want to do this for, but I'll be happy to share it (and more details of what this is all about) on request in the comments.

Help finding clip-art.

Clipart Filter: I am working on a power point for work for the boss and need to get some clipart regarding the situations where one would take lots of shit/negativity for doing the right thing.

OK, I give up. I have been googling and googling, but can't seem to find what I'm looking for: a simple clip-art/icon of a daisy. No colored background, just a white daisy with a yellow center - black outline (or similar) is OK. Picture or drawing is fine, but it needs to be a very simple design that will look cute printed on white background. Free is preferable since this is a one-time thing. I've already tried most sites that feature clipart in the url, plus countless others. If any of you can think of a good site, I'd really appreciate the help ~
