Annexation of Texas Video Clip

What are some documentaries/movies/video clips that are about the Annexation of Texas? I need around five minutes of video for a presentation on the Annexation of Texas. Online clips would be good, as well as documentaries or movies (that are easily available).

Jalapeno-Vodka Induced Hallucination?

Name That Show Used In That Russian Music Video-Filter: I was at a Russian restaurant in L.A yesterday and saw the strangest music video. I got the name of the artist (Something and Federov?) but the video was chopped up clips from what looked like a British TV show. What TV show or movie was being cut up? Details inside. The video contained a man in a broad-stripped Zoot Suit and a man dressed as a Lady Bracknell /Pepperpot type (Think Monty Python) and what seemed to be WW1-era soldiers and generals. There was lots of broad comedy and falling down drunk and the sets where very white and minimal. There was a lot of green smoke. From the video quality I'd say late 70s-early 80s? What the hell did I just watch?

Looking for crisp, royalty free medical illustrations with one-click purchasing. I'm looking to get some medical illustrations for publishing and want to be sure the rights are cleared for web and print publication as well as internal use. Specifically, I'm looking for crisp anatomical illustrations, hopefully in EPS or SVG format. The graphics may be used internally as well as externally. I've checked istockphoto but they don't have what I need. Since I'm using these for a business I'd like to be absolutely clear on the rights for the photo, and am wary of using openclipart.org or similar.

What Steve Martin movie is this?

What was that Steve Martin movie? I was in class the other day and the professor showed a clip from a Steve Martin movie. In the clip Martin encounters an injured/unconscious person and then quite comically gives very detailed emergency instructions to a little girl passerby. The girl of about four is told some contact numbers, which hospital to call, what anesthesiologist to get, what the injured person's medical condition is, etc. and then (for the funny part) repeats it all back to Martin.

What is this movie? The professor didn't mention the title. I asked several of my classmates and they were clueless as well.

Information about a stock audio clip where a dispatcher says "Beta ... something something"

There is a stock audio clip used all over the place in which you can hear a dispatcher say "Beta ... something something", I can never make out anything past "Beta" but it's very common. The last place I heard it was in one of the latest Arby's commercials where a paramedic is getting into an ambulance for some reason or other. And the first place I remember hearing it is in Sim City 2000 when you call in the police it would play this audio clip every time. I am looking for as much information as I can find out about it, and my google-fu has failed me. Specifically I would like to know what the dispatcher says.

How to share a short clip from a DVD with others.

How can I get a short clip from a DVD and save it to use in the classroom?

Say I was teaching a lesson and a film had a short clip that was perfect at demonstrating something or at getting a point across and I wanted to save it and let other teachers use it in their lessons what would I have to do?

Obviously I would look to getting the right clearance in terms of copyright - but how would I do this? Is there a really quick and easy way?

Thanking you.

Trouble shoot a Sansa Clip for me

My girlfriend's Sansa Clip has suddenly developed a problem I can't fix. She uses it exclusively to download and listen to audiobooks from the Brooklyn Public Library website. Today, when she tried to download a book that she needs to listen to by tomorrow, she got an error message when she tried to transfer the file to her Sansa Clip. It says ""[Insert3] returned 0xC00D2779," and it occurs not when she downloads the book from the website to her computer, but when she then tries to transfer the book from her computer to her device using the Overdrive Media Console. I see that 0xC00D2779 seems to mean "The file could not be transferred because the device clock is not set," but this does not get me any closer to fixing the damn thing. Thoughts? Thanks.

where is the sonic youth dvd :(

there was a great clip at the end of a sonic youth video, which featured 4 kids in a band, cruising around and arguing. can anyone tell me where i can find a copy of the file? a few years back i bought a compilation dvd of sonic youth clips. at the end of the vid, was a clip where 4 kids were touring the US in a small van. it is a great monologue, and stuck in my mind. but i travel a lot, and i would have no idea where i stored that dvd - not even which country i left it! does anyone know the clip i am referring to, and how i could get a hold of it? i already own the dvd somewhere, so i dont think i am breaching copyright tehcnically no matter where i download it from?! (i know i am too old and shouldnt be listening to this music, but anyway..)

The impossible to find clip??

Impossible to find filter: Need help finding a very funny polaroid camera commercial from approx 1995 There is a Polaroid Camera TV commercial that was used in a fundraising conference recently. It starts off with a voice over of a young kid pleeding for money at Summer camp to "Great uncle Phil & Aunt Susie... etc." You find out that the summer camp is a bunch of clever 11 year olds using a polaroid camera to send pictures out to dozens and dozens of old people who then send them money. The kids are stacking up expensive electronics as a result. There was a line about the kid in the photo needing to look more pitiful.

It was a hysterical clip especially in the context of a fundraising conference. I asked the speaker for a copy and he claimed a 10 year old legal agreement between polaroid and the company prevented him from distributing it. (This is what leads me to believe the clip is from approx. 1995)

I did of course the usual, blow the last two hours of my work day searching google with every possible combination with no success.

Thanks in advance for the help!
Something tells me it could have been made by a metal band... I find it borderline grandiloquent...!
In the episode The White House Pro-Am, from Season 1, the president goes on about economics, to ask CJ "do you understand what I'm saying?"
Leo: "CJ doesn't understand the words you're saying."
CJ: I understand the [oeuvre]. (?) I get the basic [what's this word] of what you're saying.

The few transcripts I've found simply say "something French" for this. Closed captioning won't work for me for reasons I need not get into.
Correct spelling is a bonus, and I'm only partially sure about oeuvre, so a confirmation on that would be brilliant.
May I ever use a stock graphic in a logo?

Clients want me to use stock graphics in their logos. May I do so, if I warn them that the resulting logo may not be trademarkable? I'm a web designer whose clients have recently begun asking for logos. I'm nervous about posting these questions, because when I've asked advice of graphic designers in the past the answers have gone like "that is terrible practice, leave the designing to professionals, your lousy designing will actually physically kill your client," &etc.

I understand that ideally a logo is an entirely original creation, and I'm not looking for a design lecture. I am looking for some help understanding the basics of the subject. My questions:

1. I have been making logos for small companies, usually one-person home businesses. They often send me stock images that they want to use in their logos. These folks are not Nike or Coca-Cola, and they may not care that the resulting logo can't be trademarked. Can I use the stock image, if I remind the client that anyone can use their graphic?

2. This page makes it sound as though using clip art is a-OK as long as the client doesn't care about trademarking. Aesthetic concerns aside, is there a reason that the "Deer Creek" example on that page couldn't trademark just the text part of the logo? If not, why not?

3. I'm really confused about the basic concept here: the importance of complete uniqueness in a logo. Why is it okay for more than one logo to use the same typeface or the same colors, but not the same graphic? (Or is it not okay for two logos in the world to use Futura...?!) Couldn't five different logos incorporate the same basic shape - say, a shield? Then why couldn't they all use the same stylized flower?

4. What counts as a "logo"? Why is a "logo" subject to special rules - is it just because of the trademark issue? My favorite stock graphics website, for example, has a rule that the graphics cannot be used in a "logo", but you can use the art pretty much everywhere else. Is this to protect the clip art's creator, or the company with the logo? If it's for the creator, why does the artist care if their stylized flower is right next to the name of the company as opposed to 300 pixels away?

Wow, those were more questions than I thought I had. Thanks in advance for your patience with my newbie questions, super-professional graphic designers.

Name That Tune :: PBS ThirteenHD Promo

Name that tune please :: PBS is great, and the songs in their promos are actually just as good. Currently running is a promo that ends with the words; "Be More ~ ThirteenHD" (this is PBS Thirteen's High-Def channel which they broadcast in NYC & possibly elsewhere?). The music which accompanies it is a piece that I'd classify as sort of a Blues/Rock/Jazz instrumental.
My Question: Name that tune!?!

If someone knows where to get this song online, that would be great too! I haven't had any luck, but I did find these sites containing some different PBS promos:

Some additional info:
The promo in question has some scenes of an old guy in a hat jamming on an electric guitar...he looks like your typical blues musician. The clip runs about 30 seconds, or so, long. Sorry for the limited info, but thanks so much for any help you can provide!

I just want to remember a video song.

hint : All the video is made of Alphabet letters, it's all Big building alphabet, Motorcycles Alphabet, Car Alphabet... and we can see the traffic in Alphabet and even an helicopter in Alphabet.

I can't remember neither the song's name, neither the artist.

But if you have already seen it you could remember it.

Convert DVD to WMV/AVI

What is the *easiest* way to take a clip from a commercial DVD and turn it into a WMV or AVI file. I own the DVD I am using and need a hastle-free way of showing lots of DVD clips in my class lectures. Also, the quality needs to be reasonable -- but not perfect. And again, I'm looking for the *easiest* way.
