Twenty years ago I came across an album of twentieth century music and I'm pretty sure it was from some music festival - the Osaka or Ojai festival? - featuring 20th-century orchestral composers. And this particular track featured musical glasses and had "Mountain" in the title.
Where do I begin hunting?

Advice sought for upbeat Classical music to listen to when studying. I seem to really enjoy the violin and the cello. I like some of Yo-Yo Ma and the Red Violin soundtrack. But, I do not like the classical music that is depressing and too slow -like some of the baroque. I am looking for the type of classical music one would hear in ballet. The kind that inspires and lifts you up, and makes you happy...that is simply beautiful. Do you know what I mean Hive Mind? Thanks!! So please give me a playlist

Could someone please identify these two lieder? I think they are German art songs. I can't even make out any phrase to use as a search term (so if you can, that would be great):
one;
two. Thanks in advance.

I’m a pianist living in Canada and I’m interested in recording (and making commercially available) solo classical piano music by living Canadian composers – music that is still under copyright. What are the legal requirements and, if applicable, industry norms to acquire the rights to record this music?

Baroque Choral Music Filter: I love the kind of baroque choral music with multiple parts going on simultaneously or in very close interaction, providing a gorgeous complex polyphonic tapestry that transcends language and sends me to heaven (as JS intended!). I very much dislike the soloists droning on in German against the orchestra. Which albums have more of the former?

I love contemporary classical music, but I don't know enough other people that do too. Aside from Sequenza21, what are some good resources for meeting people online that share this interest? Also, aside from attending local events (I live in Madison, WI), can anybody suggest ways to meet people in person who are also fans? BTW, if this is an interest of yours too, feel free to send a message.

Looking for an audio version of Rimsky-Korsakov's "Peter and the Wolf" that I heard in the 1980s where the narrator describing the wolf pursuing the duck says, breathlessly, "Lope ... waddle ... waddle ... lope ..." (describing their movements, with violins screeching in the background). I am looking for the particular recording that said it this way. It is particularly humorous and has great narration by a male voice in English. I thought it was the Peter Ustinov, but apparently not, as I bought it and it doesn't have this line (unless there is an alternative version floating around).

I recently stumbled upon
this piece by John Tavener. It really gets going at the 2:20 mark. I love the rich chords and, at times, heavy bass of the piece. I want to get into this choral music, whether it is old Gregorian chant stuff or contemporary, but I don't know where to start! Anyone have any recommendations to start off with?

Half remembered anecdote from a music class I took long ago:
"A great German percussionist(?) travels to India in the 20's(?), and on returning says that the trip was a complete waste of time. Not only were the musicians always out of tune, but - most infuriatingly - they were always out of tune in exactly the same way!"
Can anyone peg an attribution onto this story?
