Help with circuit building, please!

I'm interested in adapting this tutorial and this tutorial into a dress design. Basically, I want to keep the accelerometer as part of the design, but have lower profile lights and reduce the number of lines to two or three, somehow... I could solder two extra beads (right?) on but it would look better with just two or three beads/lines. What can I do? The accelerometer isn't super-required since I can just program sparkles, so losing that isn't completely off the table. [more inside]

What kind of circuit breaker is this?

An electrician told me that I need to replace the main breaker on this board. He wasn't sure where to find them. I'm hoping someone here has an idea what kind this is so I can try to get it replaced. I live in Austin,TX, so either online or near here. Here's a picture

simple electronic ciruit

I have a circuit whose output drives a beeper(piezoelectric transducer). It beeps at 1200 Hz 3 volts and a duty cycle of 1.5 seconds. I would like to get a DC whenever the beeping starts and 0.0 volts whenever there is no beeping signal. Can anyone help me design a simple circuit to do this? The end goal is to drive a small DC motor that is used to produce vibration in a cell phone. Thanks in advance, Ortological

Getting a shorted circuit to work again

One of our electrical circuits has stopped working (shorted?) after turning the AC on too high. I've taken a look in the circuit box, but it's not the type of switches I'm used to. Can you help me figure out how to get the circuit working again? Photo of circuit box. Photo of accompanying diagram.

Circuit for headlight LED works, but I don't know why

It's been cold recently (-15C) and I burned out two bulbs in my dutch bike's headlamp in a short time. Since the bulbs are hard to find, I thought this was a good time to replace the bulb with a 1-Watt LED light. What I built works, but I don't quite know why. [more inside]

Is there a general liquidation timeline I can use to determine when to purchase an item? I'm specifically looking at Circuit City. I was in there last week and saw that a DSLR (the Canon Xsi) I've been eyeing was at this location and was on sale for 10% off. I went again on Thursday and it was down to 20% off. I just came back from checking today and it was still 20% off and in stock. When would be the best time to purchase it? By "best" I mean lowest price but still in stock. [more inside]

Kitchen faucet and disposal just mutinied. Help!

My kitchen is systematically going on strike. Last week, my kitchen faucet stopped working. The sprayer thingee still works when the water is on. All other water appliances still work. OFF - HI - MED - LO

Just a stupid question that's puzzled me for years: Why is it that, on electric fans, the order of the settings on the switch is OFF - HI - MED - LO? I'm sure there's an electrical reason for this, but I don't know what it is, since I know nothing about circuitry. One would think that OFF - LO - MED - HI would make more sense. Can someone explain this to me?
