Here I am one week later, as advised, ready to rack my cider again. But I'm still unsure of some of the details. [more inside]
Two weeks ago I put sugar and yeast in a jug of cider, and it's time to rack it. But the online resources I'm using have me confused. Should I rack more than once when back-carbonating, or am I done? [more inside]
I just started my first batch of homebrew cider using Lalvin EC-1118. I had a little yeast left over, and didn't want to throw it away, so I fed it some apple juice and honey. I started wondering about what I could do with it, but a little voice said to me "ah, better think twice about this." [more inside]
I'm looking for a merchant in NYC who sells a good selection of French sparkling hard dry ciders (from Normandy and Brittany). Also great if said merchant has more diverse hard cider options (UK or Scandinavian etc.) [more inside]
I was going to make hard apple cider with champagne yeast for a party on Dec. 8th but wasn't able to start it in time. I know the brew process takes 14 days, but is there a way to speed it up? [more inside]

We have 8L of Growers cider left over from a wedding reception, but alas, we are not cider drinkers. Please help us make something drinkable out of it! [more inside]
I am trying to make hard cider and am having issues. It has fermented for two weeks steadily and burbled the airlock nicely. But no change in gravity reading and no taste of booze. I don't understand. If there was gas release then the yeast was active. I had this happen last time too. I introduced yeast twice, watched air action, etc. I make beer and wine but am about to give up on something that should be easy but is inexplicably diff. Help!

What can I do this old apple cider? I found a 30 year old jug in my inlaw's basement. It's funky and drinkable! What can I do to kick it up a notch? [more inside]
I've got a nice big piece of pork belly, and I'm going to braise it in cider and wine, as in this recipe. I've made it before, and it was excellent. Which wine (or cider, or even beer) would you pair it with? [more inside]
What to do with an orchards-worth of apples? I have access to a semi-abandoned orchard (it's maintained, but no-one uses the fruit), and it seems a pity to have all the fruit rot; there's still a fair amount left on the trees. [more inside]

I seem to remember a cartoon (might've been a Looney Tune, with Daffy perhaps?) from my youth in which a pirate song that ends up with "yo ho ho and a bottle of rum" was sung, but it ended instead with a conga-beat rhythm that went something like "yo ho ho and a bottle of" (and here's where the conga beat came in) "rum and apple cid-ER / rum and apple cid-ER / rum and apple cid-ER" (with the 'ER' being the beat). It's an obscure vague memory at the outreaches of my childhood, but that "rum and apple cid-ER" has become a real earworm for me the past few days. Any idea where this little comedy bit came from, and if it's on one of the online video services?
My girlfriend and I miss the countryside of upstate New York where we went to school. Specifically, we long for the region's excellent, home-made, freshly pressed, piping hot, unpasteurized [!] apple cider. We're now in New York City looking for that wonderfully nostalgic autumn taste. Where should we go?
