Stay, go, something else entirely?

A few months ago I had to leave my apartment in a new city and move back in with my parents due to illness. Do I move back to apartment alone in unfamiliar city where I don't know people and hope I can somehow cope, some third option I haven't thought of yet? Hope and suggestions please? [more inside]

This merry-go-round sure is fun but I'd like to get off now.

Well, I have a few really awesome problems that I would completely recommend to anyone. I would suggest you try any of, or especially the full combination of, the following:
  • Chronic illness
  • No social network
  • Mental illness
  • Geographic dislocation
  • My question: how do I build a decent life? Or start in that direction, in a stable way that won't fall apart in a light breeze. Again. [more inside]

What can I do for a family with a toddler with a chronic illness?

I have a nephew, just shy of two years old, who has a rare autoimmune disease. It's very complex, and he is going through a battery of experimental treatments. The success of those treatments is far from guaranteed. Life is crushingly hard for him and his family. We are having trouble coming up with ways to help them. [more inside]

More stories like Phil's (Season 2 of Grace and Frankie)?

I'm fascinated by Phil's backstory (spoilers below the fold) on season 2 of the Netflix tv show Grace & Frankie. Are there any novels, short stories, movies, or TV episodes with a similar theme? I'm an atheist, so "religious-inspirational" might not be my cup of tea, but I'll try it anyway. I really do want to read these stories. I'm not much interested in Phil's current story (spoilers below the fold) -- just his backstory. [more inside]

How to stay with my partner in urgent care?

I have a chronic illness that gets out of control periodically and requires iv drugs. I am exhausted, in a lot of pain, and very disoriented by the time I end up at the hospital. Help me understand my bronchiecstasis diagnosis

I have been sick for a while now, first with pertussis and now a bad case of bronchitis. My doctors have been trying to figure out if an underlying problem is keeping me so sick. In going back over my chest x-rays from a few months ago, my primary care doctor found bronchiecstasis. I had a CT scan yesterday, though I won’t meet with my doctor to discuss the results until Monday. I’ve been reading online about bronchiecstasis, but the articles haven’t helped me to figure out what bronchiecstasis means for my life now. [more inside]

How do I get fit while I get sick?

I want to get fit because it would help my health long-term, but exercising more than a gentle walk makes me sick short-term, so I am stuck.
