Hello
We are looking for a Christmas treat. They were toffee like almonds but I have googled this and only find recipes for toffee almonds. They are sugary, crunchy and In Australia around the late 1980s. We can remember having them but can't seem to remember their name. Any help will be appreciated. Angela

I recently saw a video that makes me want to create a playlist of unusual/surreal Christmas music. That is to say, odd pairings or covers of classic Christmas songs. I have a small set of criteria inside. What do you got?

My family and I are going to drive around the Philly / South Jersey area to look at Christmas lights. Pretty displays are good, garish displays are better! (we hear Hershey PA has some kickass lights, but it's unfortunately too far away for our purposes.)

Help me pick a great gift for my boyfriend’s dad. I’m spending Christmas Day with my partner’s family. They do a Kris Kringle for the adults, and I’ve drawn my partner’s father. I’ve only met him twice (the dad, not my partner). He seems lovely but I have absolutely no idea what to get him. I’ve asked my boyfriend of course, but he is not exactly brimming with ideas. Help!

Some time ago either on MeFi or BoingBoing there was a link to a bunch of songs that I *swear* were Christmas songs played in the wrong key or one half-tone down or something... Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about and where I could find this (again)?

Heroin addict decides to face her habit so she moves to the bucolic Scottish (or Irish, somewhere in the UK at any rate) countryside, meets a (decades-older) blind farmer, falls in love, kicks the habit, eventually has to grieve his death, starts writing luminous poetry, publishes... but what is her name, or the name of her book? I'm looking for gift ideas for a family member who is into snowboarding. He already has all the basics but I do know he needs a new pair of goggles (which shouldn't be hard to find).
I'm also interested in any cool accessories that you could recommend beyond the basic stuff your average snowboarder would have. The price range I'm looking for is around $50.
Thanks in advance!

Help me find a great handbag for my wife! I've really taken a liking to the Furla Frida as in
this Sartorialist pic (handbag on the left). I can't find it anywhere as it came out last year (except for $600 in the UK). I've done all of the top line google searches etc... Please post suggestions of places to look or for similar items if you know of any. I'm also in LA if there are appropriate brick and mortar solutions. Used is great too.

Somewhere between 1991 and 1994, my father went on a business trip to Germany and visited a company called
Elsentooling. For three years afterwards, they sent our family a Christmas card with one of those extra-small compact discs inside. We still listen to the first one because it's just that good.
However, it's all in German, and I know not a stitch of it, though I'm half German. The second-to-last track (
uploaded here) is some sort of story. Is it something an American would be familiar with if you mentioned the title? If not, I'm curious how the story goes.

I'm trying to find a copy of a favorite Disney Christmas-themed short (B&W, probably from the '20's or '30's, featuring a very jolly Santa and lots of little kiddies) on DVD. Problem is, we don't know the title or anything else about it -- can you help ID this film?

Okay, I'm stumped. I have no idea what to get my girlfriend for Christmas. I got her some nice jewelry for her birthday in October, and I got her art last Christmas (shortly after we started dating). I'm not ready to be buying any rings, but don't want to trod down the same path giftwise. What do I do?
Any ideas (she has an iPod) would be welcome!

I'm looking for the name of the funny, slickly-produced, xmas-themed videos that went around like a web meme. They featured a 70s pimpy-looking guy called "[firtstname] Christmas." It was one of the first net memes, probably around the time of "Mahir - I kiss you!" I don't know much else, except that he punched an old lady in the face in one episode.
