I really like holiday gift guides, which combine the illusion of thoughtful shopping with the ruthless efficiency of the internet. It's easy to find guides from popular websites and publications, but surely there are more and weirder out there on the web. What is your favorite 2013 gift guide? What are the most interesting gift guides from blogs and niche publications? [more inside]

I need to make some purchases online for Christmas - but I don't want the items to show up on the sidebar. We're a one computer family and my 16 year old daughter will easily figure out what Santa's bringing. I know there's a way to surf and purchase covertly, but when I Google "shop online secretly" and other such phrases, I don't find what I'm looking for.

For Christmas this year I would love to give my family food-of-the-month type gifts from places like Murrays
, but those places don't deliver to Canada, where most of my family members live. Can you recommend really great subscription/gift food that's either Canada-based, or delivers to Canada? [more inside]

I was a dolt and missed the deadline to ship my Mom's potential Christmas gift
to my parent's house before I left town. So now I'm left with one weekend in NYC to find her something pretty for the home that's also small enough to fit in a carry-on suitcase. I need recommendations for classy, inexpensive stores in NYC that carry unique and/or handmade bowls, candle holders, tableware, etc for under $80. [more inside]

I'm the co-creator of a new party game and my co-creators and I are stationed out of Madison. We've been invited to demo the game by an enthusiastic game store owner a few towns away, and so we've been wondering whether it makes sense to arrange a tour of the area metropolises (Minneapolis, Milwaukee, maybe Chicago). We're ramping up to the Christmas shopping season, and the game is going to start appearing at Barnes & Nobles soon, so on the one hand it seems like if we arrange something in advance with a store and simply show up there on the scheduled weekend, there's going to be a crowd, and we can try to attract shoppers' attention. But we can also perceive such a tour where we've planned it terribly, there's no store traffic and we've squandered our time and money. So: How to plan such a trip? [more inside]

Looking for a Snow Globe with a stripper in it.
Preferably with dollar bills as snowflakes.
No luck on ebay so far.
Any suggestions where I could find one.

Where can I buy a Christmas tree in Boston? I moved to Boston in August and live in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood. In every other city I've lived in, there were Christmas Tree stands all over the place. So far, I've seen none. I want to buy a live tree, but where do I go? So far, all I've seen are the cut-your-own places far out of town. Any ideas?

More xmas-shopping: Does anyone know of a store in NYC I can buy those swiss army knives with USB hard drives? I know they have them at thinkgeek and amazon etc, but I need it, like, yesterday. Other weird USB devices are also of interest.
