I'm planning a nice pre-wedding brunch on a Saturday in May for a friend who lives in Oak Brook, Illinois, but I live in LA and don't know any restaurants in that area. Any suggestions from Chicago MeFites?

What are some vibey music venues (indie, rock, blues) and restaurants we should not miss in Chicago? The more unique local flavor the better.

Yet another Chicago restaurant suggestion needed: 5 adults, 2 of whom's flight is coming in this evening and we want to give them a special "Chicago" experience. Preferably in the Loop? I live in Rogers Park and we don't want to have to go running all over the city. We will probably go straight from the airport to the restaurant.
I'm also looking for a nice place to have brunch tomorrow near the Palace theater downtown. Have any thoughts?

My friend and I are going to see Robyn Hitchcock at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago tomorrow night, and I'm looking for recommendations for restaurants near the venue (
4544 N. Lincoln ave). We're up for all sorts of food, nothing too cheap but nothing godawful expensive either. With those amazingly broad guidelines, does anyone have any favorite eateries in that area?

After eighteen years in Detroit, four years in Ann Arbor and one in Washington, DC I am packing up my life and moving to Chicago. I've been to town a few times as a tourist, but this will be my first long-term stay. I'm looking for recommendations of good bars, music stores, and restaurants.
