I moved to the Bay Area recently (San Mateo) and one of the things I've missed most from Chicago has been the amazing beer selection I was able to find at the local liquor chain Binny's. I've tried a couple of BevMo's and some smaller momandpop type places but I've yet to find a place with 4 rows of different beer plus coolers etc. which I could find in Chicago. I miss my selection! Does a place like this exist? Is there a secret bottle shop that I don't know about? Let me know where I can get my beer selection on!

My wife wants to bring an American craft beer to a former colleague who is primarily a real ale drinker in the UK. He is pretty game to try anything (and is more of a hophead than I am) and we would like to get him something he can't get there and that is a bit different (so no American Belgians for instance) but also worth the hassle. What should we get?
We are in Chicago and probably have to get it from Binnys.

My dad and I are going to be in Chicago for a few days next week, and I'm trying to bash out an itinerary. Specifically, I'd like our focus to be a mix of sampling local beers, architecture, and nerdy things in the historical vein. I need the most help with the first part. Any suggestions for:
Microbrews with public taprooms?
Good bars with extensive local beer selection?
Good neighborhoods within which one could happily wander? [more inside]

My friend just told me of a website that had a listing of Chicago bars, restaurants, and liquor stores that you could search by beer brand. He can't remember the name or url. Can you?

Tell me about all the bowling alleys and places to shoot pool in Chicago, both good and bad. If they have a pool table or a bowling lane, I want to know about it. [more inside]

Where can I find the best retail beer selection in the Chicagoland area? I'm particularly interested in beer from my favorite brewery, Dogfish Head (the more varieties, the better). [more inside]

What microbreweries within a hour or two's drive of Chicago will sell me a keg (half barrel) of a good, micro-brewed beer today or sometime this week? [more inside]
