I'm looking for some sort of PDA-sized tablet for under $100 that I can use for web browsing, preferably-but-not-necessarily running some flavor of Android. I specifically want something more iPhone-sized than iPad-sized, and I'll just be using the wifi at my home or whatever other wifi hotspot I find myself in, so I don't want a smartphone, unless the best answer happens to be some sort of smartphone with the "phone" part turned off. Any suggestions?

Mission Impossible? Christmas gifts for wife with a zero dollar budget. Due to my current unemployment, Mrs COD and myself have agreed that we will not spend a single dime on each other for Christmas. We did spend a little so that the kids have a few things to unwrap. However, having nothing under the tree just seems so depressing. Anybody have any creative ideas?

One of my favorite people is moving to Honolulu for a few years, and I would like to visit (from NYC) often and cheaply. Are there any Hawaii-specific frequent travel hacks/tips I should know about, beyond setting up a few price alerts? Are there any frequent flyer programs that would be particularly rewarding in this situation?

I am making homemade vanilla extract for christmas presents. I was planning to use smirnoff, but money is tighter than I anticipated this month. If I use bottom shelf vodka, will it be terrible? What is the least crappy brand of bottom shelf vodka? I don't have a brita filter to purify the vodka unfortunately, but if there is another cheap way to make it better I could do that. Thanks!

Been looking around to buy some cheap used books, Amazon Marketplace, BN, even ALibris seem to all have a $3.99 media-mail shipping cost. But Abebooks seems to be $2.95. Is there a downside to buying used through Abebooks, or is that simply the best deal in town?

I'm trying to keep track of cheap tickets for a dream international flight in end July 2011. However, almost all the sites I looked at say I'm searching way too early and have no information for me. When is the best time to look, and are there any websites that will email me with details once a good price or deal shows up? (I vaguely remember hearing of such a thing but can't remember the URL)

Hey folks. Long time reader, first time 'asker.'
Help me find a cheap, used computer parts store in San Francisco - I'm particularly looking for Dell laptop parts.
Just inherited a Dell D810 Latitude laptop - needs some love - almost free love, that's my budget... Any chance in getting a line on a used dell charger (type pa-10) or a used battery for a Latitiude d810 (type Y4367)? Anyone know of a recycle-ry that I can hit up for cheap? I've scouted ebay, put a call out on freecycle (Marin, SF), and scoured craigslist. Suggests?
