NYC Discount formal-wear

Where can I find a selection of cheap formal dresses, in a brick-and-mortar location, in NYC today? I have a black tie wedding to attend this weekend, and I've not had any luck in finding a dress so far and my time is running out.

I need:
Cheap as in under $200 ideally.
Formal--bride said floor length dress.
Stylish--I'm a youngish, hip-ish ladyperson.
Classy--don't send me to Forever 21.
Brick-and-mortar store because I need to buy it either today or tomorrow.

I've been to TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Loehmann's and Century 21. Filene's basement doesn't exist anymore.

Where else can I go?

I'm a student of the world...yeah, that's it!

What's the cheapest way to be a student to get a student or academic discount? The recession is kicking my butt and I'm trying to save wherever I can. So much software and hardware comes heavily discounted for students and teachers. What's the cheapest way to qualify as a student, in their eyes? An internet university? Enroll in a community college course? Something that's cheap enough to justify a few hundred dollars.

Thanks!

What are some good cheap alternatives to the Mach 3 razor

I've used the Mach 3 razor on my face for the longest time and I have been very happy with its performance. But Gillette's recent price increases are just not something I can absorb in my current economic situation. What are some good cheap alternatives that would be available in NYC-area stores? I'm pretty open-minded. But I'm not interested in investing in a straight razor. Or in anything that's only available online.

As always, many thanks in advance.

How to get cheap tickets for Broadway shows?

A couple of my friends are coming to New York to visit near the end of July, and we want to take in a show (preferably a musical). We're all students and we're trying to find cheap tickets, but we want to have this sorted out in advance instead of waiting to buy tickets day-of. Does anyone know a good way to do this? I'm in New York if it's something that needs to be done in person, although through a website would be preferable. We're just looking for good deals or discounts, or something.
Also I know nothing about Broadway, so recommendations for fun shows would be very welcome!

Can these fares to Japan possibly be real? I found - through earlier questions here and here - IACE, a travel agency "founded in 1970 to provide discount tickets to Japan". They have fucking unbelievable rates. Is there something I'm missing? Does anyone have experience with this place?

Flying standby (domestic and international)

I'm planning to take a trip to Russia next summer and have some questions about flying using standby. What sort of discounts do you get? Many more questions inside. Are standby flights commonly available for international flights? Is there a best type of flight to attempt (late night, weekend, mid-week, etc)?

If you're flying standby, how does it work? Do you buy a standby ticket and then wait inside the terminal and go up to the gate desks everytime a plane is boarding to see if there is room? If not, how do you get past security without a boarding past.

I've searched Ask.MeFi and the only thing that I can find related to it is that people gave advice saying that carry-on luggage is a good idea.

Sorry for so many questions. I'm going to attempt standby flying in the states first, but the more I know beforehand the better. General advice and experiences are welcome.

SXSW On the Cheap

SXSW: is there a way open to common plebes to get in cheaper than the full pass prices? If not, is it worth it to pay the full price? Or alternatively, just going and hanging out in Austin and catching what one can? I've got a free place to crash in Austin lined up. What other hints would you have for someone trying to go on the cheap?
